People forget that the Panthers picked DeAngelo Williams in the first round in 2006 and Jonathan Stewart in the first round in 2008 and then paid them both considerable second contracts. Getting back to the glory days.

Yes, it's an overpay, that's what bad orgs have to do to get/keep good players. Chuba is 100% a good player. And every good player in the building is one fewer they need to address in the draft or free agency. It's not a great move, but it's a solid one.
