1/7 For decades, we have understood evolution largely through genetic mutations and natural selection. But, what if DNA tells only part of the story? 'Evolution in Four Dimensions’ challenges this gene-centric view. 🧵

6/7 Culture, then, is not merely a by-product of biological evolution. What we learn from parents, peers, teachers, and grandparents shapes how traditions survive, transform, or disappear. Our ability to imagine futures and consciously transmit knowledge makes human cultural evolution distinctive.

7/7 'Evolution in Four Dimensions' reminds us that science advances by questioning its own assumptions. Are genes the whole story, or is evolution a far more creative and interconnected process? Read Sai Priya Chodavarapu's review on Bṛhat Dhīti: brhat.in/dhiti/evolution-in-…

Indian knowledge systems have always been inter-disciplinary in nature. A poetic metre could become a way of counting, a rhythm could reveal a pattern, and a pattern could become a method of thinking.

Was the Sītā abducted by Rāvaṇa the real Mā Sītā? The Adhyātma Rāmāyaṇa offers a remarkable account of Sītāharaṇa. Before Rāvaṇa's arrival at Pañcavaṭī, Bhagavān Śrī Rāma entrusted Mā Sītā to the protection of Agni, while a Māyā-Sītā, identical to Her in every way, remained in Her place. It was this Māyā-Sītā whom Rāvaṇa carried away to Laṅkā, whom Jaṭāyu fought to protect, and whose abduction set in motion the events that would lead to Rāvaṇa's destruction. Only after the great war, when Māyā-Sītā entered the sacred fire, did Agni-deva restore the real Mā Sītā to Śrī Rāma. But the story does not end with their reunion. Another encounter awaits Śrī Rāma, one that will lead Him to Bhagavān Śiva Himself. #AdhyatmaRamayana #MayaSita #SitaHarana #SriRama #Ramayana #BharatiyaItihasa #Brhat
