For the past few weeks, we've been featuring a bunch of Deaf Crocodile superstars via our new "on this day" feature, and today it's time to raise a toast to one of the two biggest starts in the DC firmament.
That's right, today is the birthday of Deaf Crocodile's intrepid co-founder and film restoration god, Craig Rogers!
Craig turns [NoneOfYourDamnBusiness] years old today, so to celebrate, check out Craig's Letterboxd list of the many films he's restored through the years, and pop in an old favorite or a first-time watch tonight.
Also, check out this pic of Craig and Bela Tar color-grading all 439 minutes of "Sátántangó" together, and imagine Bela holding his head and saying, "why did I make this movie so long??" (Craig recounts this story on a previous episode of the Deaf Crocodile podcast) Maybe tonight's the night that you finally give Sátántangó a spin?
Or just watch your favorite Martin Scorsese film again! I think Craig would be happy with any of these choices.
Happy Birthday, Craig!

Kickstarter perk spotlight: get in on the ground-floor of ANTENNA.
Of course, it's not just Deaf Crocodile that's opening a physical media store in Lee's Summit, Missouri. We're collaborating on this journey with our dear friends at Antenna Releasing! Antenna is a boutique distribution specializing in curated theatrical engagements and filmmaker-forward releases. Co-Founders Ryan Verrill, Billy Ray Brewton, and Francis Galluppi are already carving out a niche for themselves as a new model for film distribution while championing a range of unconventional films, both fiction and documentary.
In the coming months, Antenna will join its colleagues in the boutique Blu-ray market by releasing many of their first acquisitions on physical media! As part of our Adventures in Analog Kickstarter, you can support the renovation and build-out of our physical media store, microcinema, and shipping center, and also receive THE FIRST FIVE Antenna releases by mail!
What are the titles? Well, if you check out antennareleasing.com, you'll see some of the first major acquisitions Antenna has secured, so it might be some of those. It could also be something else - part of the joy of this perk is the take-a-chance energy of it, plus being in on the ground-floor of what is sure to be a fascinating and one-of-a-kind curatorial experience!
Note: The price is reflective of the fundraiser campaign. We are needing to raise funds for the renovations and launch of the store. Buying the releases as they are announced separately from the campaign WILL be less expensive. This is to show your support and throw in some extra to ensure that we are able to make the launch successful.
Double Note: The releases will ship as they come out, and the schedule is malleable. Currently, we plan on having five releases out by March 2027 at the LATEST.
Search "Adventures in Analog" on Kickstarter for the campaign, and if you're on Antenna's wavelength (ahhh, see what I did), this is a chance to support brick-and-mortar movie stores and independent film distribution.

As our Kickstarter for Adventures in Analog, the Deaf Crocodile / Antenna physical media store, starts to wind down, we wanted to point out a few more interesting perks you might have missed:
Artist Brian Level ( @brian_level ) has a hall-of-fame position in Deaf Crocodile history because...well, because he created the Deaf Crocodile himself! Our beloved mascot, Romero, is a Brian Level creation, and Brian has re-drawn the Romero character several times for different releases - as the undead for Dead Crocodile, and as Red Riding Hood, Cosmonaut, and Hitler-puncher (respectively) for our DEFA Crocodile line.
Now, Brian wants to design a new Romero - for you!
For a pledge of $250, Brian will re-created Romero the Deaf Croc however you want him! Should he sport a Willy Wonka suit and wry grin? Should he be saying "Ku!" while wearing a bell in his snout? Should he look like YOU? It's your choice!
The attached photo shows our first custom Romero commission as Travis Bickle. So cool, right? Think you've got an even cooler idea? We bet you do - make your pledge and tell Brian what it is!
Four days left to support the grand opening of Adventures in Analog - check out the link and contribute if you can.

Zero Instance 2 is out next week from Comixology! Had a lot of fun with the cover!
Original art included. Painted in a different color palette before I decided to go for something totally different color wise after scanning. Main goal was to get texture.
