Ministers have been secretly warned that some English reservoirs are at risk of running dry, hitting water supplies to homes in the run-up to Christmas
The government’s emergency committee, known as Cobra, is meeting up to twice a week to discuss the situation in the southwest of England and Sussex
A secret “reasonable worst-case scenario” was drawn up, anticipating that several reservoirs’ water stocks could fall to 0 per cent — dubbed “day zero” — within weeks
Officials warned that without action, supplies to some homes could be affected, along with disruption to the construction of a nuclear power station and operations at a prison
Wimbleball reservoir, which supplies more than 400,000 people in Somerset, has 13 per cent of its capacity, while Ardingly, which serves 280,000 customers across West Sussex, is at 17 per cent

So let met get that straight: paying a wealth tax is impossible (“billionaires have no liquidity”, “it would be taxing unrealized gains”, “their wealth is virtual”) but paying half a billion to influence elections is possible. Did I understand well?
Elon Musk has cemented his record as the largest individual political donor in modern American history.

Last week’s IMF’s meetings showed how adrift and without purpose the Bretton Woods system has become. They’d do well to take a leaf from Keynes and @IsabellaMWeber’s anti-fascist economists to find a new purpose in life 👇
Multilateral institutions are in crisis. We need new stabilisation tools for an age of shocks.
That's why I'm delighted that @MehreenKhn has read ANTI-FASCIST ECONOMICS and agrees it's time to revive global buffer stocks.

Amol is making a day one mistake of launching a YT channel/podcast. It's a disparate set of guests - who is the person who is a fan of 2 hour Gareth Southgate interviews and also Delia Smith?
Each might do well (but haven't) but there is no common thread drawn through them
This is what development exists for, and hubris is no replacement for a development process.
Interview with a name is not a format, or a strategy, and it misunderstands why other products that feel similar have done well.

I know this is nitpicking, but this France news has taught me that people don't know who Napoleon was. Case in point, this is a scene where Napoleon is, on behalf of radical leftists, executing conservatives, monarchists, nobles, and religious people.

EXCLUSIVE: Elon Musk came to Donald Trump with the plan to throttle Ukraine’s use of SpaceX’s Starshield satellite internet network, sources have told the Telegraph.
The tech billionaire made the proposal during the US President’s row with Volodymyr Zelensky over strikes on Russian oil refineries.
‘The reality is that they were both in it,’ a senior source said of Musk’s and Trump’s involvement.
But after a night of carnage in Kyiv caused by the slowdown, Musk was alarmed about the possibility of adverse consumer reaction in Europe.
The SpaceX boss then proceeded to tweet, blaming the US administration, and ultimately, President Trump for authorising the slowdown.
‘He tweeted out that he was innocent and that it was the US administration that did it,’ the source said.
