Britify

Once British culture disappears, it does not come back. The village pub, the regional dialect, the fête, the harvest festival, the Christmas carols and nativity play, civic services, and the slower pace of small-town life are not accidents. They survive only because successive generations of the same people keep choosing to practise them. In recent decades, those choices have been made harder by large-scale immigration and the policy of multiculturalism. In places that have changed rapidly, the old speech patterns recede, the pubs close or alter, and the traditional customs lose participants. Parallel communities form in which the prior culture is no longer the shared default. Economic and technological change would have altered Britain anyway but multiculturalism has accelerated the thinning in specific towns and cities by introducing populations whose languages, religions and public habits differ sharply from those that produced the traditions in question. The older ways continue only where people still deliberately keep them alive. Without that active choice, the distinctive character of the place fades until little remains to pass on. Restoring Britain means deliberately reversing the thinning of its traditions and local cultures. Tightly controlled immigration, cultural confidence in education and institutions, and active local transmission will stabilise and restore our national cultures.
