A SharePoint cleanup only sticks if settings enforce it after the project ends. Before you close it out, turn the decisions into defaults: a library default label, a retention policy, and site sharing limits in the SharePoint admin center.
A default sensitivity label on a SharePoint library only labels new files. Everything already in the library stays unlabeled, and that is where Copilot finds what you didn't mean to share.
Pair the library default with a Purview auto-labeling policy for existing content.
Microsoft 365 admins: as of Oct 22, next-generation sharing is rolling out in OneDrive and SharePoint. Each file or folder gets one primary link, and its audience can change without changing the URL. (MC1454378)
Your audit question shifts from which link to who it reaches today.
Copilot adoption is a people project first.
"We believe this transformation should happen with people, not to them; that it should grow their potential rather than replace it." Satya Nadella
Admins: bring users in early. Champions and training are the plan.

Got another email from X pushing the new pricing. The claim about my current Premium+ plan: "$10 a month less than you pay today and includes everything you have now, plus more products and more usage."
What's the latest consensus on whether it actually includes more usage?
The old model of thought leadership rewarded attention. The emerging one may reward influence without ever showing you where it happened. Someone asks an assistant a question six months from now, and part of the answer traces back to something you wrote today. You'll never see the page view.
Copilot rollouts succeed or stall based on a handful of roles.
An executive sponsor who provides visible support. A success owner who runs the ongoing health reviews. A technical team handling licensing and security. And most important, champions: early adopters trained deeply enough to coach the people around them.
If you only fund one of those this quarter, fund the champions. IT can turn Copilot on. Champions are the ones who show their colleagues why it matters on a Tuesday afternoon.
If you've been waiting for a reason to fund your sensitivity label project, Copilot is it. Labels are the rules the AI actually reads.
Microsoft Purview DLP can now scan what people type into Copilot, not just the files Copilot reads. If a prompt contains a sensitive information type, built-in or custom, it can be blocked before it's processed.
That's a meaningful shift. For years, data loss prevention watched documents and email. Now it watches the conversation.
But like everything else in Purview, it only enforces what you've defined. If you've never reviewed which sensitive information types your organization actually uses, start there.
Cost and speed at scale are real decisions. They're just IT and finance decisions, not something every employee should weigh before asking for a meeting recap.
Most content teams don't think about governance until something breaks: an unlicensed image gets flagged, an AI claim falls apart, a post skips legal review. By then you're doing damage control, not building guardrails. Would your content survive a bad week? #ContentGovernance
