The UK government will take every half-assed, inconsequential decision to "prevent" violence so that they can check off a box. In the future, people will complain about rape, and the government will say "but- but we banned porn!!!". They know it won't work. They don't care.
I was asked to comment on this Ministry of Justice press release by @BBCNews (but a single line couldn't convey the problems these offences burden the courts with interpreting):
“This Government has a commitment to halve violence against women and girls in a decade. For many people, it is still easy to access harmful pornography online.
"From 6 November, it will be illegal to possess or publish pornography showing strangulation or suffocation, sexual activity between certain relatives, or adults roleplaying as children under 16.
“This isn’t about criminalising harmless sexual preferences. But porn can shape what people think a healthy relationship looks like, especially young people. Content that normalises, or even glorifies, violence against women is dangerous and can blur the line with what is acceptable in real life.
“Young people especially deserve better examples of what healthy relationships look like. Real intimacy is built on respect and trust, not abuse.
“If you've got this material, delete it. If you're sharing it, stop. It's not as harmless as you may think, and after 6 November is it criminal.”

i hate my country. 5 years in jail for being into asphyxiation. 5 years in prison because someone might *think* that you dare act childish (the definition of which is completely loose and likely includes merely the use of "daddy" amongst other things)
Did you know that on the 6th of November 2026 the UK Government is banning the publication and possession of pornography depicting breath play, age-play, and incest?
The maximum sentence for publication offences is five years imprisonment.
This will affect publishers and consumers globally.
The offences are, in simple terms:
1. Strangulation or suffocation.
(2 years for possession, 5 years for publication)
2. Penetrative sexual activity between people pretending to be related.
(2 years for possession, 5 years for publication)
3. Sexual activity between two people where (a reasonable person would think) at least one person is, or is pretending to be, under sixteen.
(3 years for possession, 5 years for publication)
