I'm the girl that everyone turns to fix their problems. Well this girl has her own problems. Even though i don't show them, I have them.

9:30pm, come back and see HUD. The always-underrated Martin Ritt adapts Larry McMurtry's first novella w/Paul Newman in his career-best performance, opposite Patricial Neal, Brandon DeWilde and Melvyn Douglas, shot by James Wong Howe, who won an Oscar. bam.org/film/2026/hud

When Sontag directed Waiting for Godot in Sarajevo during the siege actors showed up starving to rehearse by candlelight because the production was the only thing sustaining their will to live, anytime anyone says art is politically frivolous tell them that and see what they say

I’m devastated to hear about the passing of Asad Haider, from whom I learned so much. I’ve returned to this essay on the meaning of Palestinian nationalism many times viewpointmag.com/2021/05/27/…

On Black Friday, Starbucks workers expanded their ULP strike to 85+ cities.
Now, just 6 days later, the strike is growing AGAIN.

imagine,,,,not being allowed to return to your home
The DSA, Zohran Mamdani’s party and the people that launched him to Gracie Mansion, are proposing that the mayor formally forbid active IDF soldiers from entering New York City, lest they be arrested. Meaning, I’d be barred from visiting my family and my friends in a place that means a great deal to me. Of course, this initiative can’t happen, at least not now, because we’d need a lot more insane people in government to see it through, but the agenda of these hateful pieces of shit shouldn’t be underestimated.

I find no joy in brutality, even that which comes to those who cause suffering. I have in me no old testament sense of vengeance, no bloodlust. I am not ashamed of my compassion or my humanity — the very same which Charlie Kirk mocked & derided days after my boyfriend's murder.
The friends of murdered Brooklyn activist Ryan Carson say that he would feel sorry for his killer, and would have blamed "lack of resources" for his own death.
"He would immediately see that this was a person ... who probably needs better mental health support, possibly housing, possibly drug support, drug treatment."
Imagine being so brainwashed that even after the murder of your friend, you feel obligated to express sympathy for the murderer.

Rachel is leaving out the part that tickled me the most - he had obviously intentionally weathered the book to make it seem like he’d been carrying it around for a while. The thing looked like it’d been run over with a truck
