@CFigueres I also couldn't stop thinking about chapter 1 of the Ministry of the Future when hearing about the heatwave in Europe. Then I had a look at the wet bulb temperature map and couldn't believe the colour around India zoom.earth/maps/temperature-…

@mangonui08 @chrisluxonmp So the UK government is introducing the Energy Independence Bill which will essentially ends new gas and oil exploration (oceanographicmagazine.com/ne…) and you're wanting to do more exploration? Thanks for taking NZ backwards.

@mangonui08, @tamapotaka@ and @chrisluxonmp I would just like to congratulate the current government on again tainting NZ's world leading conservation image again, being included in a paper on the impacts on bottom trawling. transformbottomtrawling.org/…

Ok, CSS is in an awesome place these days. Was just playing around with an idea for competency tracking on Codepen (codepen.io/bytesnz/pen/RwXzB…) and it was so much less CSS with all the features we have today. Go CSS bytes.nz/c/css-is-awesome

Wondering where your spam is coming from? Using an unique email address for everything you sign up for helps and it's easy by using email sub addressing (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_…). For example, sign up to x with [email protected] if your email is [email protected].

What a disgusting world we live. Iran fires rockets, further raising tensions in the Middle East and this is one of the headlines

"We're the only species that knows about mortality" (source nature.com/articles/d41586-0…) @Nature, can we please stop publishing/publicizing these kinds of statement. Surely we know by now that animals are smarter than we give them credit for (for evidence goodreads.com/book/show/3023…)

@syntaxfm. OMG! Bravo! The episode on the new jQuery 1.2 (syntax.fm/show/750/new-css-a…) absolutely blew my mind! All sorts of fear, loathing and nightmares washed over me when you were talking about all that tech. It sent shivers down my spine. Hats off to you good people.

Another stunning episode of #PlanetEarth3. Would prefer it didn't call the open ocean a desert though, but so many reason why we need to protect and stop pillaging the ocean. That's why I choose not to eat seafood.

Before I loose it again, one of the best references for creating accessible web sites is the ARIA Authoring Practices Guide w3.org/WAI/ARIA/apg/. It has good examples of how to create some complex components like navigation with submenus & treegrids, as well as best practices.

my fav is NVDA (nvaccess.org/download donate if can). I do hope they do take a11y into amount more, but I imagine it would be tough to do.

you have bad contrast, disable tab focus styling or not put labels on your button icons, you've got bigger problems. The axe tools (deque.com/axe) are pretty good at finding issues. You should also experience your site through a screen reader...

The one thing that might have an effect on your page ranking (totally guessing) is the use of semantic HTML. If you're only using divs, I think you'll get a worse ranking as it won't be able to parse the page contents as well as if you were using semantic HTML. That said, if ...

@wonder95 Thank you for asking the question about a11y in JSJabber #611. I disagreed with Dan's hijacking of the term a11y for a wider accessible outlook. From the lack of answer to your question, I guess the answer was not much though I would love to know what the answer is...

... all while the greedy rich are getting richer not giving a damn about the environment, the poor and still poor, and endangered animals are being tossed aside so humans can keep expanding.

@OutrageOptimism Nah, I've got no optimism left. The @UN, @COP28_UAE and the #COP process have achieved nothing but exhausting more CO2 so toothless politicians can expel hot air & stroke each others egos thinking they are doing something while the earth and people are dying.

You bastards. Its not business as usual if you cull half the staff. @bandcamp is/was the best platform for both artists and fans. It doesn't need change or less staff. Boo you Adobe of the music world.

#WorldOceanDay. Why not take a couple a minutes from you day to immerse yourself in the sound of our ocean thanks to @docgovtnz youtube.com/watch?v=YYdexrbJ… This audio will lead you from the ocean to one source of fresh water — the mountains
