Hard hitting truth. "Travel Apartheid" on small countries that have no political abd financial muscle. It's a human rights issue indeed! – at Malawi

US travel bans on southern African countries because of the omicron variant of COVID, are becoming increasingly ridiculous.

Omicron was in the Netherlands before South Africa alerted the world - we may never know where it originated, another reason to underline the importance of not laying blame & seeking to punish mol.im/a/10258965
Malawi's 7 day average SARS-CoV2 cases is 5, we have detected no Omicron, and we have actively looked for it. Yet we got red listed
Six more cases of Omicron found in the UK.
Many more more will emerge over the next few days.

One year after touching down in Malawi I got vaccinated. It’s been a busy and stressful year, but I’ve got to work on a great team @MlwTrust to set up Covid testing and in country sequencing.

So it begins! 360,000 AZ vaccine doses in the country. A good start for over 500,000 frontline healthcare workers who are first in line in #Malawi. Thanks & keep 'em coming, COVAX. (Had to go and have a quiet little grateful cry at this news)
Great to be part of the team achieving the first sequencing in Malawi using the @NetworkArtic and @nanopore
Replying to @micro_jen

Dear twitter, we are trying to scale up our Covid testing in Malawi. We have a Qiagility and a Qiasymphony, but are struggling to program both. Can anyone help?

Based on this analysis, do we conclude the CDC haven't heard of Primer3? Or have a license for Geneious. It actually boggles the mind.
The CDC-provided COVID-19 primers have potential issues with hairpins and dimerization, writes @tomeraltman.
In his new blog post, he designs better candidate primers to help develop better diagnostic kits.
