Hahaha. This is funny.
This is applicable to almost all tech companies. Nothing is a revelation in this thread.
A former $ADBE employee posted the following on Reddit.
Read it and get out of the business if you're still holding the bag.
It's MUCH worse than you think.

Ok what are some of these "second income sources" one can build from salary?
Forget about top 5%.
What would be the strategy for those earning less than 18LPA?
Rental building?
Dividend income?
Side job or business?
It's funny that people casually recommend 2nd income sources!
The Microsoft news is a reminder that no job is truly secure.
Today, you have a salary. Tomorrow, things could change.
Start building a second source of income while your salary is still coming in.
Start small, stay consistent, and give yourself 4-5 years to build something meaningful.
Don't wait until you lose your salary to figure out how to earn without it.
Keep investing in bear markets to reap benefits in bull markets.
If you sell in bear markets and buy in bull markets, you are doing the reverse of what needs to be done.

I have a doubt.
High paying folks getting laid off has multi order effects.
Right from real estate (including rental properties) to restaurants to even groceries will see impact when people pull back spends with this fear of uncertainty.
Eventually govts will see tax impact on both personal income tax to GST collection, which will have its own branch of problem..
What's the endgame? I'm an optimist, and believe things will revert to mean.
But I'm asking those with wisdom accumulated from past chaos like this: Will this time be different? Are we staring at a stagnation that we are yet to prepare?

Someone at Microsoft told me they didn't get the buyout email, and they're already bracing for the next wave.
Their team is still intact. Nobody on it got a package, so from the outside it looks fine.
They're still concerned about what comes next. They just don't want to panic and blast a hundred applications that aren't a fit.
Here's what I'd do while they still have the job:
• Update the resume and LinkedIn
• Work on your brag book of accomplishments you've achieved that you can speak to on an interview
• Restart a handful of warm relationships before you ask for a referral.
• Figure out your financial runway and vest dates
• Practice interviewing once a week
• Slowly apply to jobs with intention, don't mass/spam apply everywhere.
I'd rather start now than the week after the next email lands.
While commenting on bleak job outlook, please stop talking buzz words like "create a diversified income bruh".
Not everyone can figure these things out and create 3 passive/ alternative income sources before 45.
It's so easy to say When you have no liability, family responsibility or gotten lucky with ESOP / RSU etc.
Before you laugh, this how European folks look at us..
