The next scheduled outage happens tomorrow, Sunday before noon, as we switch back from secondary power to Carleton datacentre's main power. We anticipate that it should be similar to the outage this morning, which lasted approximately 12 minutes. Thanks for your patience.

We're working to limit the outages to no more than 30 minutes each morning, switching power sources between 7am-8am on Sat morning, and before noon on Sun. However, because network equipment will be rebooting, we're scheduling maintenance windows 8am-noon both days. 3/4

The network downtime will occur when we switch from Carleton's main data centre power to a secondary source of power on Saturday morning, and when we switch back on Sunday morning after Carleton's work is completed. 2/4

NCF will have some network outages this Sat. Feb. 24th and Sun. Feb. 25th, affecting DSL internet services, email, website and webhosting. This is a result of major upgrades at Carleton University's main datacentre, where the NCF network is hosted. 1/4

If your modem doesn't automatically reconnect after your power returns, please try power-cycling your modem by unplugging it and plugging it back in after 10 seconds. If that doesn't help, please contact the HelpDesk at [email protected] or 613-721-1776 ext. 0. 2/2

We hope everyone is safe during the snow storm. There are currently no reported network outages, though this may change depending on the conditions. If you've lost your power, your modem should reconnect automatically a few minutes after getting your power back. 1/2

Yesterday the @CRTCeng announced that it is mandating temporary wholesale access to Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) services on the Bell and Telus networks in Ontario and Quebec. 1/4

After more than seven years of waiting, NCF is thrilled to finally have the chance to offer FTTP services to our members -- this is a key part of what we asked for in our recent submissions to the Commission. 2/4

We are working through the details of the decision, especially the interim wholesale rates and will keep you posted. As a not-for-profit we remain committed to internet affordability and wholesale rates are the largest portion of the cost of our internet services. 3/4

This is also part of our work towards #digitalequity and ensuring everyone has the right to affordable, high-quality internet they can understand how to use, while feeling safe online. 4/4

As a not-for-profit #communityisp, NCF cannot be sold. We seek affordability, not profits. But we face many of the same pressures as commercial independent ISPs. We also need the same remedy: lower wholesale rates and fast access to FTTP services. 2/3
