I am grateful to all of you who are trying to keep Europe and the United States together. There are so many people with good hearts in America who sincerely want evil to lose and Ukraine to stand strong. These are the very hearts that helped Europe defend its freedom, and that fought on D-Day, won the Cold War, and want what is best for Europe. Hearts that want to be allies, not to divide or humiliate Europe. I believe most Americans still feel this way. And at the end of the day, the American people will have their say. Putin will listen to America if America really turns up the heat on him and makes one thing clear – either he chooses peace, or he gets no more money for his war. From an address to the participants of the European Council meeting. (2/5)

This statement ignores the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Ukrainians and Russians killed or maimed—casualties for which Ovechkin bears a significant share of responsibility through his public stance.

People keep saying Trump term II is the most corrupt administration ever, so I built a model to find out if it was true. I took the UN's definition of corruption, turned it into eight criteria and 100 points, and scored the leaders history remembers for looting their countries: Marcos, Suharto, Mobutu, Abacha, Obiang, Putin. Then I put every president since Eisenhower on the same scale, both parties, with every exoneration counted right alongside the convictions. Nixon scored 41 and no other American President scored over a 25. Trump's second term scored a 91, which ties him with Suharto and Mobutu and puts him above Marcos and Abacha. So he is not only the most corrupt president in American history. At this pace he finishes his term level with the most corrupt rulers of the last hundred years. PSA: don't come in my comments arguing about the results if you haven't read the full article, because ignorance is a choice. Full article is up now on my Substack (link in bio) and it's free.

Much has been said by racists, politicians, and racist politicians (like Bo French) about Indians and UT Austin admissions. I thought I should shed some light so their racism could be slightly more intelligent. I'm a brown kid. I grew up in Frisco, went to a massive Texas high school, and went to UT. I would wager that the kids in this picture and I have practically the same background. Like me, they probably went to a massive, pressure-cooker suburban Texas high school, and survived the gauntlet to earn their admissions. These aren’t foreigners. State law requires 90% of UT's freshman class to be Texas residents. 75% of those in-state seats go to automatic admission on class rank. These are Texans. Texas, for better or worse, is one of the few meritocratic college admissions schemes in the country for a school of its caliber. The rules are simple. Today, the top 5% of a public school's graduating class is automatically accepted. There is nothing to game. You can’t fake being a competitive rower or have some consultant write your essays for you. There isn’t anything to steal; it’s all there on the table to compete for. And the competition starts the moment the bell rings for your first period of freshman year. You are ranked in your class every single year, for us, #1 to #450. You knew exactly where you were, exactly how hard you had to compete. My year was even less competitive than it is today. The top 6% made the cut, so that’s an all-out war for ~27 kids to get auto-accepted into UT. So we worked our butts off. Here's what my life was like, starting in kindergarten. Every summer, before the school year started, I had to finish the upcoming year's math textbook. I sweated over getting As, even in elementary school. One funny memory is walking to my parents' room, crying, to report my first-ever 89 on a report card. I did Kumon, my least favorite thing in the world. I still hate that weird half-smile that is their logo. I went to math and science competitions, where I always lost, and came home crying again. (Quite the crybaby, wasn't I!) And everyone else around me worked just as hard. Actually, a lot of the kids worked much harder. I know people who took extra classes (zero period) just to boost their GPA. Who routinely slept 5 hours a night to nail every assignment they had after band practice. Who were distraught when they got a 98 instead of a 100. People who stopped doing things they loved, like sports or arts, because those classes dragged down their GPA. People put their entire life force into getting into this school. I wasn't even in the top 10% of my class. The competition was too good. I wasn't disciplined enough to hang with them. I got in as one of the 22.5% of admits who are at-large Texans. These are American kids who earned their way into this school in the most American way possible. Competition. They were told the rules, they competed, and they got the number. And on Saturday they were in that stadium in burnt orange, screaming their heads off, like every other Texan at DKR or around the country. I can’t feel anything but pride for them. That they get to live the dream that so many of us dreamt growing up! Kids like this have helped improve UT’s standing on the national stage. They made it out of the pressure cooker and placed well in Finance, Big Tech, and more recently, startups. They meaningfully contribute to the economies of our state and country. You should be proud of them too. Overall, this seems like a meritocratic (albeit flawed) way for Texans to be admitted to our state’s flagship school. It’s racially blind. But politicians like Bo French are asking for something different. They want the student body to rebalance racially. Surely they aren’t advocating for affirmative action, are they?
I heard UT graduation this year looked like this. I didn’t believe it. The problem is now obviously far worse than anyone imagined.

"Dick Allen was ahead of his time. He played the game in the most conservative era in baseball history. It was a time of change and protest in the country. His way of doing things would go unnoticed today. If I had been Mgr. of the Phillies, I would have found a way to make Dick Allen comfortable. When Dick Allen was comfortable, baseballs left the park." Willie Stargell

Matt Suhey passed away yesterday. He was my dad’s closest friend. After we lost my dad in 1999, Matt became the biggest father figure I had. When everything felt uncertain, he was there. My dad left him in charge and Matt never let that responsibility sit lightly. He protected our family. He looked after us. He made sure we were okay, year after year, without ever making it about himself. That is who he was. Their friendship showed me what real friendship looks like. Not the easy kind. The kind that lasts when the lights go off, when the stadium is empty, when life gets heavy. Brian’s Song told the story of Piccolo and Sayers. Somebody needs to tell the story of 34 and 26. Two men who trusted each other completely. Two men who became brothers. I know @walterpayton was standing there waiting for him the second he got to heaven. I can see it. That smile. That hug. That reunion they both deserved. Our family is so thankful for the love he showed us over the years. The Payton family will continue to lift Donna, Joey, Allison, and Scotty up in prayer during this difficult time. Rest easy, Uncle Matt. We love you. We always will. 🙏🏽🐻⬇️ #Bears

Today, Ukraine's Defense Forces struck one of the key military enterprises in Russia's Kirov. It supplies components for the occupier's aircraft and missile systems, which are used, in particular, in the massive attacks against our cities and communities. I thank our warriors for their precision. Our response is entirely justified. Our long-range sanctions also proved effective against an oil facility nearly 1,350 kilometers away. There were other successful strikes as well. Importantly, the operation against Russian logistics, which supplies the occupying army with drone components, navigation equipment, and military gear, remains underway. I thank every unit of our Armed Forces, our intelligence agencies, and the Security Service of Ukraine involved in achieving these results. Glory to Ukraine!

It has been a great honor to serve the Ukrainian people as the Minister of Defense. Here is what our team managed to achieve: 1. Disabled Starlink access for Russian forces. 2. Took over a Ministry of Defense with zero budget, took a risk, reallocated funds from payroll from the end of the year, and effectively invested them in mid-strike capabilities, fiber-optic FPVs, low-cost reconnaissance, ground robotic platforms, interceptor drones, and deep-strike drones. 3. Launched "Logistical Lockdown", this cut off enemy logistics and initiated the isolation of Crimea. 4. Continued the funding program for the Drone Line. 5. Launched a support program for modern drone-assault units that rely primarily on advanced technologies in combat. 6. Introduced a 70% advance payment policy for procurements made via e-Points on the Brave1 Market portal. 7. Fundamentally overhauled the procurement system. 8. Procured thousands of pickup trucks, buggies, and ATVs for the military for the first time—and did so through open tenders. 9. The drone interception rate rose from 83% to 91%, and the cruise missile interception rate soared from 47% to 87%. 10. Contracted Patriot PAC-2 GEM-T missiles for the first time, and submitted an application through an EU loan to purchase PAC-3 missiles. 11. Launched a baseline drone supply system for brigades and corps. 12. Launched a massive grant program for manufacturers of explosives and missiles. 13. Initiated an unpopular but vital transformation of the military. 14. Conducted three UDCG meetings, where we successfully broke through the Russian information trap claiming our defeat, restoring partners' faith in Ukraine. This secured $40 billion in support announced for this year (excluding the EU loan). 15. Launched the mechanism to utilize the EU loan for our military priorities. 16. Found a way to scale cheap missiles against jet-powered Shaheds and signed a record-breaking contract. 17. Our domestic ballistics. We radically revised the technical specifications, maximized accuracy, and reduced the cost by 30%. 18. Signed a contract to procure Gripen fighter jets. 19. Collaborated with the military to plan and execute Operation Auchan, which halted the enemy's mechanized offensive for six months. 20. Opened up exports under the Drone Deal program to attract investment and scale up domestic defense-industrial complex (OPK) production. 21. Launched the Trophy Lab, providing partners with the opportunity to study captured Russian military technologies. 22. Launched the Defense AI Center A1 to accelerate the integration of artificial intelligence on the battlefield. Thank you to my entire team for their relentless 24/7 service. A special thank you to my family for their patience. Thank you all for your support! I will continue to work toward the mission I originally brought to the Ministry of Defense: defeating the enemy through asymmetry, the speed of innovation, and the power of organization. To be continued.

Elbridge Colby wants the benefits of an empire without any of the responsibilities. Elbridge Colby's latest lecturing of US allies shows just how out of touch Washington is with the reality of its own decline. He wants to have it both ways, but his logic is falling apart. The current Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Elbridge Colby, has a track record defined by failing to deliver his promised pivot to Asia and advocating for policies that cost countless Ukrainian lives. Despite this, he is currently trying to tell middle powers how to manage their defense. During both of Trump's terms, the US urged Europe and other allies to spend more and stop relying on American taxpayers. It was a reasonable point, and allies are finally taking steps to increase their defense capabilities. But the moment these countries try to build a collective middle power strategy, Colby starts warning them against it. In a recent X thread, he argued that allies should not build up their own defense industrial bases because they cannot compete with the US. He wants them to spend more, but only to buy American weapons, ensuring they stay entirely dependent on US goodwill. You simply cannot have it both ways. In the past, relying on US weapons made sense because the US guaranteed security. But Colby is asking allies to maintain their dependence while the US actively disengages, reduces European troop levels, cuts aid to Ukraine, starts trade wars, and appeases shared adversaries. If the US is going to behave like an unreliable partner, why would Denmark, Canada, or any European country spend billions on US weapons instead of investing in their own domestic industries and cutting their dependence? You cannot destroy your own geopolitical leverage and still expect allies to blindly follow your demands. Trust is a currency, and the US has spent the last 18 months destroying it. Had Washington stood by Ukraine and maintained its commitments, it would have the leverage to negotiate. Instead, they destroyed their own influence, and no one is going to sacrifice their own industrial sovereignty for a partner that is already walking out the door

For three years, former CEO of Overstock, Patrick Byrne accused @HunterBiden of treason and linked him to a terrorist attack. Yesterday, a federal judge - Republican appointee - found that every one of those claims was fabricated. The Court described Mr. Byrne as not a credible person. This decision affirms that the rule of law still exists in this country. The judgment includes $1.7 million in punitive damages to be paid to Hunter Biden and that is the floor, not the ceiling, of what Mr. Byrne owes for his conduct. If Mr. Byrne repeats any of these claims, we will see him back in court. - Dick Harpootlian Lawyer for Hunter Biden
