Good morning, lovers of chairs After reading through the @themutualfun Prospectus, one part I didn't fully understand at first was the Open Market (Anvil AMM) I had to go through it several times and read a few posts on my TL before things started making sense So, here's my breakdown of what I understood, the key is understanding how the market actually works One important thing to note: the market has a stated buyback price, but that doesn't necessarily mean every seller gets paid instantly. A return can be delayed if the till doesn't have enough $TMF available Some chads might want to know what their exit looks like before taking a Seat, and tbh, that's a fair question Let's use a simple example. Imagine you own a furniture shop. Normally, if you want to sell a chair, you need to find a customer willing to buy it. What if no customer shows up to buy? The chair stays in your shop Now imagine your shop has its own buyback desk. It sells chairs according to fixed rules and also buys them back using money kept in a reserve That's the basic idea behind TMF's Open Market(anvil AMM) The reference price is 401,000 $TMF per Seat. Want a random Seat from the shelf? That's 401,000 $TMF plus 8% Want to choose a specific Seat? That's the base rate plus 16% Why the difference? Think about buying a mystery box versus picking the exact item you want. The freedom to choose comes at an extra cost. But buying and selling aren't priced the same way. If you hand a Seat back to the Open Market, the stated buyback price is 368,920 $TMF, which is 8% below the reference rate. So no, you can't buy a chair at the shop's selling price and expect to return it for the same amount. The fees and price difference matter. Now, where does the buyback money come from? According to the Prospectus, TMF's Open Market will launch with 1,000 Seats, backed at 401,000 $TMF each. That's 401 million $TMF in initial backing. Think of the till as the shop's cash drawer. When someone buys a Seat, the market receives $TMF. When someone returns a Seat, the market uses the available $TMF to pay them. Sounds simple enough, right? But here's the part you shouldn't overlook. If too many people want to return their chairs and the till doesn't have enough available $TMF, some people may have to wait until sales replenish the reserve. In other words, a buyback mechanism isn't the same thing as unlimited, instant liquidity. The shop may have a rule for buying your chair back, but it still needs enough money available to complete the transaction TMF is designing a dedicated market for its Seats rather than relying entirely on another collector to show up on a secondary marketplace. That's a meaningful design choice, if you ask me. Now, I'm looking forward to seeing how the mechanism operates in practice, how liquidity behaves and how people respond to the fees and buyback rules The economics behind the chair deserve serious attention Because if you don't understand how the system works, even a little wait at the buyback desk could create unnecessary FUD Chair is chair We all want that chair But please, read the rules before you sit.
