Drug networks do not stop at State borders. Our response cannot stop there either. I have urged Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah ji to convene a conference of Home Ministers of all States and Union Territories to strengthen interstate action against narcotics trafficking. Keralam has proposed faster operational coordination under NCORD, real-time intelligence sharing, stronger financial investigation and a review of legal and procedural gaps exploited by drug networks. Keralam is ready to host the conference and place the experience of #OperationToofan before the country. The fight against drugs must rise above political differences. #DrugFreeIndia #NCORD

There’s bound to be some tamasha when this book comes out. After all, others have spent decades telling my “story”, now it’s my turn.

Children today are exposed to an unprecedented volume of violent content, crime-based entertainment and high-risk online gaming. The concern is not about any one country or one film industry. It is about the kind of digital content children consume, how often they consume it, and whether they have the guidance to understand its impact. We are expanding Cyber Safe Keralam to help children recognise online risks, build healthier digital habits and use technology safely and responsibly. Protecting children online requires parents, schools, technology platforms and the police to work together.

As Home Minister, I have no hesitation in acknowledging a lapse when the police get something wrong. In the Cheranalloor case, the initial police response was inadequate. Action will be taken against the officers responsible, and the investigation is now being handled by the District Crime Branch. Whether the accused is a judge’s son or anyone else, the law must apply equally. We will also do everything possible to support the family of Jayabalakrishnan, who lost his life. Justice cannot depend on status, wealth or influence.

For an ordinary citizen, justice and the law are often the only protection against power and influence. That is why what happened in the Cheranalloor case cannot be treated as just another road accident. No wealthy or influential person will be allowed to interfere with the course of justice. If any police officer has failed in their duty, that officer will not be protected. We will stand with Jayabalakrishnan’s family and do everything possible to support them. The duty of Government is to ensure that the law protects those who need it most.

Accountability cannot stop with the accused. If police officers failed to register the appropriate provisions, mishandled evidence or failed in their duty, those lapses must also be examined and acted upon. I have directed that the officers responsible be identified and that action be taken without delay. No offender will be shielded. No official lapse will be ignored.

Jayabalakrishnan was returning home after closing his small eatery when his life was taken on the road at Cheranalloor. I told the Assembly today that the initial police response in this case was not adequate and had to be reviewed. The investigation will proceed firmly and independently. No one will be protected because of position, influence or background. Justice is the same for the rich and the poor. The law must apply equally to everyone. (Excerpts from my speech in our legislative assembly today. Full speech in the reply.)

Certain Vigilance functions require confidentiality while sensitive inquiries and intelligence work are in progress. The exemption granted to the T1 and T2 sections is intended to protect that operational confidentiality, not to weaken the principle of transparency. The Government has no interest in shielding corruption or diluting the Right to Information framework. Where disclosure is legally permissible, transparency must continue to be the rule; confidentiality should remain limited to what is genuinely necessary for investigation and intelligence work.

Complaints that undermine public confidence in the Public Service Commission cannot be treated lightly. The Crime Branch investigation into alleged irregularities in PSC recruitment will proceed thoroughly and independently. If corruption or manipulation in appointments is established, those responsible will be brought before the law. There will be no compromise from the Government. At the same time, it would be inappropriate to prejudge matters while the investigation is underway. Public recruitment must remain fair, transparent and credible.

No one is above the law when a life is lost on our roads. In the Cheranalloor case, where a 17-year-old was driving the vehicle involved in a fatal crash, I have directed the DGP to ensure urgent and appropriate action under the law. There will be no room for influence, pressure or preferential treatment, irrespective of who the accused is or what their background may be. The family of the victim should have no reason to fear that justice will be compromised. The law will take its course — without fear or favour.

Keralam will not be a playground for communal hatred. I had called for action against the vlogger spreading falsehoods and communal suspicion about Varkala and Fort Kochi. The registration of an FIR against him by Fort Kochi Police is a necessary step. Our temples, mosques, churches, art and diverse communities are part of our shared heritage. No campaign of hate can erase that. Freedom of expression is not a licence to incite communal enmity. Keralam stands united. Hate will not divide us.

Drunk/drug-impaired driving Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs puts innocent lives at risk. Police checks will continue across Keralam, and those caught driving under the influence will face strict action, including proceedings relating to their driving licence. This is not about inconveniencing motorists. It is about preventing avoidable deaths on our roads. Drive responsibly. Protect lives.

Operation Spa / Ayurveda misuse (it adds a new angle to the Operation Spa narrative: misuse of Ayurveda’s reputation) Ayurveda is one of Keralam’s most respected traditions. Its name cannot be allowed to become a cover for exploitation or illegal activity. Police have found instances requiring scrutiny where spa establishments are operating under the guise of Ayurvedic treatment. Those acting illegally will face firm action. At the same time, genuine Ayurvedic treatment centres and law-abiding wellness establishments must not be unfairly stigmatised. Operation Spa is about separating legitimate wellness from exploitation and illegality.

Honoured to receive the award instituted in memory of A. Pachan, a freedom fighter and distinguished leader of the Dalit movement and the Indian National Congress, at the memorial meeting held at Gandhi Bhavan, Pathanapuram. I receive this recognition with deep respect for the memory of a leader who stood for social justice and equality. The true value of public life lies in standing up for the dignity and justice of every section of society. I see this honour as an inspiration to carry that responsibility forward with even greater commitment. My heartfelt thanks to everyone. @INCIndia @INCKerala #APachan #SocialJustice #Equality #IndianNationalCongress

The decision to permit a Vigilance investigation in the P.P. Divya matter was taken after examining the entire file and the merits of the case. There is no political consideration involved. An investigation is necessary to establish the facts. The Government’s decision was taken on the basis of the material before it and in accordance with law. Let the investigation proceed and let the truth emerge.

What we eat, what we wear and what language we speak are matters of personal liberty. It is not for any of us to decide what others should eat. Individual choice must be respected. Public institutions should reflect that same respect for personal freedom and Keralam’s plural traditions. What we choose for ourselves should not become a rule for everyone else.
