20,000 New Hampshire residents could lose health coverage, and 5 hospitals in the state are at risk of closing thanks to President Trump and his one big beautiful bill, which Secretary Kennedy is choosing to implement as harshly as possible
Thanks to President Trump's Rural Health Transformation Fund, states like New Hampshire are expanding mobile healthcare services to bring care directly to patients in their homes, reduce unnecessary hospital visits, and strengthen emergency medical services.

pronouncing it “john mule-aney” just to annoy friends of mine.

This is great by @NateWeixel - more apples to apples comparison like this, please!
From @NateWeixel at @thehill - "Democrats across battleground districts are holding Republicans’ feet to the fire over the Medicaid cuts in their signature One Big Beautiful Bill law." thehill.com/homenews/state-w…

Replying to @SecKennedy
@SecKennedy using his time and platform to promote racist tropes. This will do nothing to make us healthier.

just a wild thing for anyone to say, let alone a secretary of HHS responsible for global health coordination

Guy on a walk just confused me for a neighbor and asked how my old man was doing. Dad died 5 years ago. The phase of “taking care of your parents” and being the kid who provides the updates on “the old man” is hard as hell, but boy when it’s over, it’s over.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen someone pack this much passive voice into one article! Normally, the team at ASPE is phenomenal at putting out accessible and actionable research. This one’s tough, of course, b/c they’re trying to defend the indefensible: Medicaid work requirements.

they try to point to the $200M that Congress appropriated to implement work requirements across the entire country but in 2019, one SINGLE state told GAO that the funding they’d need to properly update their IT systems for work requirements would be… $271M

so tl;dr: Medicaid work requirements have been a disaster everywhere they’ve been tried the feds now want every state to do it And they’re not investing enough to do it well! (And please find better writers, ASPE. I’m begging you.)

me, when chaz starts talking about ‘08 margins
Lookit man, I don't blame anyone who says "the country is too polarized for a >D+9 GB" because they either didn't watch/remember '08's fundamentals/data. I sure wasn't (I was 9). But the President's approval is Bush-level. Economic sentiment is low. There's a deeply unpopular war in the Middle East. We're seeing a large turnout differential in a lot of states in EV and LV modeling. In 2018, President Trump was only -7. He had a great economy, and a polarizing Supreme Court nomination to excite the base. He ain't got any of that (-44 with Independents currently). You better start believing in 2008 stories, because you're in one.

Contrast this with the Cheesecake Factory line, and you’ll see what an actual, professional communications operation can do.
TRUMP on HIGH GAS PRICES: We’re making money like we’ve never made before. They’ll say: President Trump is bragging about all the money they're making while people are suffering at the pump. I don’t give a damn. We’re making a freaking fortune.

It’s funny because 3 of the 5 are true about the current guy, and the first one won’t be true when Trump’s out only because no one’s going to pay for his rambling.
Makes speeches for 500k a pop. Hasn’t eaten dinner that costs less than $250 in years. Has never been in a Cheesecake Factory. Undefeated at condescending to regular folks. Will always be known for a presidency that ushered in the Trump era to begin with.

in a normal White House, junior staff just want those little M&M boxes or tiny champagne bottles with the seal on it

end of the Persian gulf war. it was my 5th birthday and I got like 3 new GI joes. most patriotic I’ve ever felt.
What is the oldest political news story you can remember? For me it's Joe Biden being selected as Obama's VP.

correction: the Medicaid cuts have already hit for immigrant communities, survivors of domestic violence, and the translators who kept our troops alive in Iraq and Afghanistan
Ezra Klein: The Medicaid cuts haven’t hit yet. The Medicaid cuts are enormous. They are going to throw millions of people off of health care — millions of Trump voters off of health care. … I think we’re moving back into a period of health care politics.

We used to have a federal survey that measured hunger in America, but the Trump administration stopped conducting the survey right after the bill that cut food assistance was passed.
We are seeing a hunger disaster unrolling before our eyes. Since the GOP passed the Big Beautiful Bill, 2 million kids have lost food assistance. These are by far the deepest SNAP cuts in history, and each month, we find out it’s worse than we thought. The worst is yet to come.
