❝Switzerland ordered some Tomahawks years ago. Now the US said they can't deliver them.
So Switzerland said then we won't pay.
The US have now seized the funds we paid for the F-35s (which we probably won't get as well) instead.❞
"Trust in the USA is suffering"
The development has been poorly received in parliament. "It's infuriating when we halt payments and then the money is simply diverted,"

It is beyond pathetic to watch European jets actively shoot down drones in the Middle East while refusing to do the exact same thing over Ukraine.
We are willing to militarily defend airspace on another continent but let a European nation face genocide alone

The chaos in the world is a direct consequence of the Russian attack on Ukraine, said Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
"The explosive situation in the Middle East and drones in the skies over Cyprus are not separate conflicts, but a direct result of the destruction of international law.
It all started in Ukraine, when Russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, cynically violated the borders of a neighboring country and signaled to the entire world that the rules no longer apply," Meloni remarked in an interview with Tg5.
The war in Europe is already underway, and to consider these events "distant" is a dangerous illusion. Without restoring the rule of law, which has been destroyed in Ukraine, the chaos will only worsen, she added.

Europe cannot afford to stay a loose club of vetoes and hesitations. In Leuven, Belgium, Mario Draghi put it clearly: coordinating national interests is not the same as acting as one power. Where Europe has chosen federation – trade, competition, the single market – it is respected and heard. Where it has not – defence, foreign policy, industrial strategy – it is divided and vulnerable. A Union strong on trade but weak on security will always see its strengths used against it. Europe must choose: fragmented nations, or a real European power.

🇪🇺 EU Parliament votes to cut dependence on US tech giants
The European Parliament has backed a push to reduce Europe’s reliance on major US technology companies, approving a report that calls for stronger “digital sovereignty” and more homegrown infrastructure.
The text urges the EU to prioritize European options in areas like cloud services, artificial intelligence, semiconductors, cybersecurity, and open source software, especially in public procurement. The vote passed by a large majority, with 471 in favour, 68 against, and 71 abstentions.
The move reflects a wider worry in Europe that too much of its critical digital backbone sits with a few American providers, and could become a political or legal vulnerability in a crisis. US firms still dominate Europe’s cloud market, with a very large share of spending going to American companies, which is one reason lawmakers want more European capacity and clearer control over data and infrastructure.
The Parliament’s vote is not a law by itself, but it increases pressure on the European Commission and member states to fund, buy, and build more European tech at scale.

How to lose the 21st century to China:
1. Unilaterally disarm regarding the soft power competition by ending economic aid and international media agencies.
2. Impose tariffs irrationally on everyone.
3. Invade Greenland, break up NATO, and isolate the US from the entire world.
4. Defund universities.
5. Discourage the best and brightest from immigrating to the US.
6. Withdraw from international organizations, handing over their control to the Chinese Communist Party.
7. Foment polarization between Americans.
8. Stop supporting democracy abroad; just talk about power.
9. Weaken American democratic institutions at home.
