Michelle Obama was named one of USA TODAY’s “Women of the Year,” a recognition of women who have made a significant impact in their communities and across the country.
When told about the honor, Michelle Obama was asked if she had a guiding mantra. Her answer wasn’t surprising to the people who love her most:
“Barack and I really did use “going high” as a mantra when the critics were loudest,” she said. “For us, going high was a line in the sand, a decision point – a place to step back and decide who we wanted to be.
It’s not always easy to go high, of course. But unlike making the choice to take the low road, going high will never, ever diminish who you are.
It always helps us shine our brightest and lead lives with a little more dignity.”
Congratulations Michelle Obama! 💙

Spanish striker Borja Iglesias announces he will not play for the Spanish national team in support of the women's national team after Luis Rubiales refused to resign as RFEF president. 🚨
“As a footballer and as a person, I do not feel represented by what happened today… I have made the decision not to return to the National Team until things change and this type of act does not go unpunished.”

Girma. Team MVP. While the US is out, the positive is that the playing field in women’s soccer is now finally at that point: where anyone can win, fewer blow outs and watching just 3 good teams! Now cheering for Japan! Great progress for women’s futbol! – at Honolulu, HI

Congrats @MulliganMed @TarunJella_MPH @JNeuroMD - the stats don’t lie. pls read thought provoking & edgy discussion; studied literature from other professional sectors, need to move beyond using mentorship as the “go to” solution thejns.org/view/journals/j-n…
These are institutional and departmental leaders who are simultaneously juggling numerous critical priorities that often take precedent over DEI work. These changes are at a personal level & are intangible, difficult to track & measure, and highly variable @AANSNeuro @CNS_Update
