SIR PATRICK STEWART (1940-2026)
Before everything else, Patrick was defined by being born and bred in Yorkshire, the proud county in the north of England which he loved to the end. You could hear it in his accented voice and in the stern honesty with which he told you what he thought and felt. Yorkshiremen have no truck with half-truths or avoidance of big issues. He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.
We first met as ambitious young actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company half a century ago but we weren’t in the same productions. My first strong memory was a few years later, meeting him in the street in central London when he told me about an offer to take over a leading part in 'Star Trek'. “But Patrick think of your stage career in the UK. Do you really want to risk—getting lost in Hollywood for years and years?”. Well, he took the risk and thank goodness for us all that he did for not just his devoted Trekkies but film and theatre audiences, who marvelled at his using international celebrity to star in a string of cinema successes ('X-Men' of course) and in great classical plays by Shakespeare, Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Peter Shaffer, Pinter and Beckett at Stratford-upon-Avon, in London’s West End and on Broadway.
America was his adopted home, where he met his adored Sunny who has cared for him through sickness and health, through thick and thin. But he never forsook his origins: and the proudest achievement of the most respected and beloved actor of his generation on either side of the Atlantic, was his appointment as Chancellor of Huddersfield University in Yorkshire.
His farewell performance in 'Avengers: Doomsday' is yet to be seen.

All of us at Marvel Studios are deeply saddened by the passing of Sir Patrick Stewart. Sir Patrick brought Professor Charles Xavier to life with extraordinary grace, intelligence, and humanity, defining the character for generations of fans, from "X-Men" to "Logan" to "Avengers: Doomsday." He was a singular talent, a generous collaborator, and a true gentleman. Our hearts go out to his wife Sunny, his children, his friends, and the countless fans around the world whose lives he touched with his art.

Komanche, nadie me preparó para vivir con el dolor de ya no tenerte, y sé que no existirán palabras suficientes para expresar todo lo que estoy sintiendo en este momento.
Muchos no te conocían como yo te conocía. Eres un espectáculo de persona. Podías estar atravesando tus propias batallas y siempre encontrabas la manera de estar presente para quienes te necesitaban. Tu alegría era contagiosa y tenías ese don tan bonito de hacer que cualquier momento se volviera especial. Yo sabía que a donde fuera si estabas tú no necesitaba nada más para pasarla increíble.
Mi familia te adoptó en Monterrey, y tenerte tan cerca terminó convirtiéndote en un hermano para mí. Te prometo que cada día que compartí contigo fue un regalo y de todo corazón espero haberte hecho sentir por lo menos una parte de la felicidad que tú me diste.
Dejaste recuerdos hermosos en muchísimas personas. Siempre fuiste atento, amable y cariñoso con todos por igual. Tenías una forma muy especial de hacer sentir importantes a quienes te rodeaban, incluso cuando tú mismo necesitabas que alguien te hiciera sentir así.
Sé que hubo cosas y personas que te hicieron mucho daño y siempre encontraste en tu corazón la manera de perdonar. Nunca voy a dejar de admirar eso de ti. Tenías un corazón mucho más grande que tu cuerpo Komi y ojalá hubieras podido verte siempre con los ojos con los que te veíamos quienes tanto te amamos.
La última vez que te vi te abracé muchísimo. Si hubiera sabido que era la última te hubiera abrazado todavía mas.
Hoy encuentro un poquito de paz al saber que todo lo que necesitabas escuchar de mí te lo dije en vida. Nunca me guardé el cariño que sentía por ti y estoy segura de que sabías que te quería con todo mi corazón.
Gracias por dejarme conocerte de verdad, por hacerme parte de tu vida y por regalarme tantos momentos que voy atesorar por siempre. Te disfruté todo lo que pude y, aunque daría cualquier cosa por tener más tiempo contigo, me siento profundamente afortunada de haber coincidido contigo en esta vida.
No sé cuándo volveré a verte, pero te ruego que, cuando llegue ese momento, me saques a bailar apenas me veas.
Estés donde estés, hoy te encomiendo a la Virgencita como tú tantas veces lo hiciste conmigo. Le pido que te abrace, que te cuide y que te dé toda la paz que mereces.
Descansa en paz mi Komi y que Dios te tenga en su gloria.
Te voy a querer y a extrañar toda mi vida. 🤍
