What a great story
On a bitter cold morning in 1956, Harry deLeyer showed up late to a Pennsylvania horse auction. The best horses had already been sold. One animal was left behindâa thin, dirty gray gelding loaded onto a truck bound for slaughter. Harry looked into his calm eyes and asked to buy him. The price was $80.
His young daughter named him Snowman because he was pale against the winter snow. At first he was just a gentle lesson horse. Harry eventually sold him for $160, but days later Snowman escaped his new home and walked back to Harryâs barn. Harry sold him again. Snowman came back again.
Only then did Harry realize the unwanted workhorse could clear five-foot fences. He bought him back and began training him as a show jumper. Within two years, the former plow horse was competing at Madison Square Garden against elite horses bred for the sportâand winning.
In 1958 and 1959, Snowman was named Horse of the Year, the first horse to win the title two years in a row.
The world called him âThe Cinderella Horse.â He appeared on The Tonight Show, in Life magazine, and became a national celebrity. In 1969, Snowman retired at Madison Square Garden. As he left the arena for the final time, the crowd stood and sang âAuld Lang Syne.â
Snowman died peacefully in 1974 at the age of 26, with Harry beside him. He began life as a horse nobody wanted. But one man saw something others missed. Sometimes greatness doesnât come with a pedigree. Sometimes itâs simply waiting for someone to believe. đčđ

Okay darlin, never let it be said that I sold a horse or gave away a poor starvin' unloved kitten based on sympathy and coercion. đ

I have just been distracting myself. I have court in the morning and no lawyer. Please pray for me. They are trying to take the 80 acres on a technically. I am hopeful the judge lets me tell my story. Jesus is on my side. Anything is possible.
