Former Saturday Night Live host Dan Levy has called out Shane Gillis over remarks he made about women during his SNL opening monologue this past weekend. Levy specifically took issue with a portion of Gillis' monologue in which the comedian described going to the gym and observing that "women just dress like whores now." Responding in an Instagram Reel, Levy said: "Women wearing short shorts at the gym does not make them whores. It makes the men calling them whores misogynists. There's a difference there. By the way, I've seen more men's nipples at the gym than I've ever seen women showing their bodies off." "But I'm speechless that something like that can exist on live national television. And to be perfectly honest, more men need to be standing up in opposition to it because it's complacency that has created the environment in which women are sexually assaulted and it's a 'conversation' as opposed to a 'crime.'" "This is not a women's issue, this is an everybody issue. Because the more that men objectify women in the media, the more that other men see them as objects and treat them as objects. They are not objects. They are superior human beings to men, OK? And I'm sorry if this gets me in trouble with the internet, but fuck." consequence.net/2026/10/dan-…

Joke of a club. Other MLS teams are signing big name Europeans players that are improving them. Meanwhile we sell our best players for penny on the dollar prices during a 12 game unbeaten and 1st trophy run. Owners care about marketing and sponsorships vs winning trophies.

"Fans" unable to see that Löwen did next to nothing in the run of play in this system. Separate your emotional attachment. He's not great at anything but set pieces. We need guys who are productive and creative in the run of play. He's not it. Hartel was. Good business here
Eduard Löwen approached St. Louis about his long-term future but the team said it wouldn’t look at options and extensions until after the summer Löwen later told the club he wanted his team to look for potential long-term destinations, which St. Louis granted, as he is well-respected in the organization and a fan favorite. Löwen is the type of person you will not hear a bad word about. Win-win for all parties as the midfielder gets long-term home in San Jose.

Pretty simple. The right is constantly inventing totally crazy scenarios of gotcha moments that won’t happen to create a sense of hysteria. Here are the facts: — A trans woman has never played in the WNBA. In 30 years. — Trans women are barred from competing in women’s sports in the NCAA and the Olympics. — 29 states have banned trans girls participation in women’s sports K-12. — The Supreme Court ruled states can exclude trans girls from participating in women’s sports. Y’all won. Y’all got it. So why is the right still crying and whining about an argument that is backed by law and policy at virtually every level? Wait, I have an answer. They want to erase trans existence period and no amount of exclusion, degradation, or denigration will ever be good enough for them. SO they create these dumb, illogical, stupid-ass scenarios because there actually isn’t enough there for them to make a salient point. It’s fear-mongering bullshit that is designed to create a hostile environment for trans people. It’s weak.

@jemelehill I’m a huge fan since way back to your ESPN days, but I don’t understand your stance here. Please elaborate?

"Casual fans will definitely jump on board if MLS adds stupid mascots for every team" is quite a take 🙄🤣
The MLS has room to grow in a few ways, but 1 major thing sticks out: The team naming conventions. I’m watching a game between “San Diego FC” and “FC Dallas.” We are not in Europe. We don’t call our soccer teams “football clubs.” Why the hell are we integrating foreign nomenclature into the top level branding of a team? It reads like we are trying to be someone else. Beyond that, “FC Dallas” doesn’t even make sense in English. “Football Club Dallas” puts the modifier “Dallas” after the head noun “Football Club.” That is Romance language construction—grammatically common in Spanish or French, but not in English. So not only are we using foreign terminology, we are also forcing foreign grammar into our brands. And then the core of the issue: bucking a ubiquitous trend in all other American sports. Literally every other American team uses the same nomenclature: City + Mascot/Nickname The Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Red Sox, Washington Capitals… It’s the city and a thing. It tells you where they are from and gives you some semblance of a brand to assign to the idea of the team. “FC Dallas” gives you nothing. No imagery, no brand, just a bland technical “name” to use to refer to the team. This is just one of the many “foreign” things about US soccer that just make it hard to get into as an American fan. If you want to take over the American market, you have to be authentically American. The MLS simply does not present that way in its current form. If anything, they come across as wannabe Europeans. Until the MLS manages to own its American nature, they will struggle.

There’s an American on TikTok asking what “Soccer” players do after the World Cup, and if they have to go back to some other jobs. One response went: “Haaland is a rapper, Ronaldo is an Influencer, and Mbappe is a General in the French army” I have laughed so hard.

The most depressing thing about loving soccer in the USA is seeing the pattern of everyone not care, then misunderstand, then get hype, then clown on soccer once the USMNT lose, then just move on. Repeat every 4 years.

I love how people pack college football stadiums every Saturday without caring whether they’re watching the best players in the world. But when it comes to soccer, suddenly the excuse is, “It’s not the best league in the world.” Stop making excuses. Support your local club. That’s how the sport grows. #MLS #USMNT #USL

I look at Houston, which has a massive Latin youth population. You think the best youth soccer players in Houston are playing competitive youth soccer? No, because their parents can’t afford the insane barriers to entry that youth club soccer requires. Soccer should have the lowest barrier to entry. The sport requires a ball, a goal, and a field. Nothing else... but US Youth Soccer is designed to keep the working-class kids out of soccer, many of which is the go-to sport for youth, especially in a Latin-rich area like Houston. And you wonder why we get our asses kicked every four years in soccer. The American youth that loves the game can’t afford to get into the gatekeeper’s door.
