Interesting statistic:
Since 1957, 72% of Tour de France victories have been achieved by riders implicated in doping scandals. 💊
These riders and their infractions are listed below. 👇

Let's consider her agent, Demadonna, who's represented many of the "best" athletes in the world... but also many of the most highly prolific drug cheats in history (next to Rosa... Demadonna is #2).
The likelihood Peres cheated once is absolutely zero. I'm hoping they'll go back to her Athlete Biological Passport and be able to overturn the vast majority of her race results... bumping the other athletes up.
Our own athlete, Julia, was 3rd at the Marathon World Championship - and fuck yes, I'm going to consider her a silver. But that's in thought only because it won't be official unless those results are overturned.
Now let's get to the money... The base prize monies are known, but lest we forget about appearance fees for World Champions and World Major Champions.... lest we forget about the contract bonuses they have and then the rollover bonuses they have for the years that follow from a contract bonus earning.
Rollovers are when an athlete's contract is upgraded for the following years by the highest bonus earned from that year - Let's just say a World Major win is $100,000 contract bonus and an Olympic win is a $150,000 bonus... easily Peres was earning $750,000/year or more from her contract from Adidas, if not over $1,000,000/year.
Want to bring an Olympic and World Champion to a World Major? Well get ready to pay $250,000 or more because otherwise she isn't going.
NOT including prize money or appearance fees. I'd estimate she was earning $1,500,000/year. Demadonna was earning over $225,000/year on Peres alone.
The sum of money Peres and her TEAM stole... it's through the roof and far more than just what was earned in prize money.
Olympic Standards are based on these results (as a whole). Contracts are based on these results (as a whole). Appearance fees... bonuses... everything is based on what these athletes do and sadly the agencies of Demadonna and Rosa are LITTERED with the worst offenders (at least the most caught).

Every high-profile doping trail involving a Kenyan athlete always leads back to Federico Rosa, Claudio Berardelli or Gianni Demadonna. Any Kenyan athlete who chooses to associate themselves with these three must also bear the burden of suspicion that follows them.
Some crazy reticulocyte readings here, really crazy. 4.38% is off the scale.
AIU's legal team dropped the ball somewhat by arguing blood withdrawal was reason for atypical Sample 25.
On the date of the adjudication, blood withdrawal was not an ADRV (rule changed on 1 Jan 2026).
This is a big blow for the AIU and the ABP.
In the first instance decision, Ikeda offered a range of explanations that were both diverse and prima facie difficult to credit.
Unlikely that he changed explanations for CAS, who were persuaded.

One wonders what the Women's marathon record truly is! Look at how many women have been busted who ran 2:16 or under! I believe it is 2:12-2:14. Truth is, AIU is busting more cheaters, especially in Kenya. I suspect that testing needs to pick up in Ethiopia. It is obviously not the shoes that make a difference, but EPO, which still seems to be the drug of choice. In 2014, I broke the news about #RitaJeptoo, who was about to take a big check from #WorldMarathonMajors. Until the punishments are so draconian (all money returned to sponsors and races) and the shame of being named a cheater, we will continue to see these posts nearly every day. @aiu_athletics is doing a better job, but big-time cheaters persist? Where do you think the women's world record for the marathon is, and by that I mean non-dopers? Do we go back to Paula Radcliffe's WR and start all over? This takes away legitimacy from women's elite marathoning. It damages the sport and terrifies sponsors. What do you think?
The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has provisionally suspended Olympic gold medallist and former half marathon record holder, 33-year-old Peres Jepchirchir in a move that shocked the athletics world.

I spoke to Peres Jepchirchir's agent Gianni Demadonna about her positive test for EPO. He said doping control officers initially were not granted access to her house on the day of her test and had to call him before they could be let in.

So much of that I see when I’m on a broadcast call I do not believe. I’m not surprised by this. I am, however, sad for all the athletes who finished behind her and were screwed out of a podium.

CAS OVERTURNS AIU'S 4-YEAR BAN ON KOKI IKEDA
Japan's Koki Ikeda 🇯🇵 has been cleared of an anti-doping rule violation by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), overturning his 4-year ban and making him eligible to compete again.
The Tokyo Olympic 20km Race Walk Silver medallist was sanctioned by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) in February 2025 over alleged blood manipulation based on abnormalities in his Athlete Biological Passport.
However, CAS found that there was a reasonable non-doping explanation for the findings, concluding that the anti-doping charge had not been established.
Ikeda's four-year sanction has been overturned, clearing the way for his return to competition.

So, that’s the 2016 and 2020 women’s @Olympics marathon gold medallists from Kenya busted for doping. Plus the women’s marathon world record holder, also from Kenya. Yet, we keep getting told by @WorldAthletics that the country is getting on top of the problem. It doesn’t look like that from I am sitting.

The London Marathon has a terrible recent record for dopers making its podiums.
2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2020, 2023, 2024.
10 out of 15 race days between 2010-24.
And that's just the dopers who were caught...
Replying to @aiu_athletics
The highly decorated Kenyan marathon runner, a former world record-holder in the half-marathon, is a four-time World Marathon Major winner having captured the Sydney Marathon (2026), the London Marathon (2024), the Boston Marathon (2022) and the New York Marathon (2021).
Will we hear anything condemnatory from her manager? Almost certainly not. 🤫
Hey @sebcoe , I thought you said Kenya was making "good progress" in the fight against doping?
The female marathon World Champion has just tested +ve for EPO.
It cannot get worse than that.

And well done to the Ethiopian Anti-Doping Agency, who did not take the excuse at face value.
Aga was ranked 11th in the world at the time of her +ve test.
She'd taken methylprednisolone, a more potent form of prednisolone, a steroid that can act as a pain killer.
One for those who like to believe the athlete's side of the story presented to a tribunal.
2 years for the doping, 4 years for faking a prescription.
Keep in mind this is not a fringe athlete. This is a major marathon winner managed by a huge agency.
