Split the Night’s main character is based on my first bar regular, a wild old guy named Bill Perkins. He was a bassist, a joker, a drunk, a flawed man, an imperfect friend (aren’t we all?) After 25 years tending bar, I still think about him. He’s long dead, but his memory isn’t.
