Replying to @jasonfried @Kazanjy
Hey Jason... "Clark from InVision" here... I’ve been somewhat removed from the InVision business since transitioning out ~2 years ago, and this is the first time I’ve reacted to the latest news publicly. I'm choosing to do so here because in many ways your post is a full-circle moment for me. MANY (perhaps most) of the underlying philosophies that drove InVision from the very beginning were inspired by my co-founder @BenNadel and I reading and re-reading Getting Real. It was our early-stage hymnal. Apologies for steam of consciousness rant and admitted inherent bias — I’m a founder after all :) 👇🏽

I’ve returned from my trip to Amsterdam! It was lovely. As a wheelchair user, I found it much more challenging than I had anticipated. My thoughts on transport and street accessibility…🧵

Good evening. Day 5 after the latest Russian attack on Kyiv. Day 277 of the war. I am president of the Kyiv School of Economics, a former minister of economy of Ukraine, and a professor of economics at the University of Pittsburgh. I left the US for Kyiv 4 days before the war 1/

The reason unions are badass is if a billionaire walks into your office and starts demanding you work 12 hours a day 7 days a week to prove to him you deserve your job, you and your coworkers can legally make that one of the worst days of his life.

this handwriting is around 600 years old. but what does it say? is it a foreign language? a secret code? scholars have been trying to decipher it for 400 years, but have yet to succeed — making the voynich manuscript one of the oldest unsolved mysteries around. thread🧵

Best take I’ve seen
I’ve seen a lot of takes on the Figma Adobe deal in past week and think most VCs/finance folks misses the point since they don’t really understand the market or tools Adobe and Figma makes. Figma is not a Photoshop killer and Figma didn't put "Photoshop in the cloud".
Figma will be Adobe’s Instagram

“It was pretty brutal.” “It’s an existential crisis.” "Weather does seem to be getting more extreme.” From early June to straight past Labor Day, waves upon waves of heat scorched the country, smashing thousands of temperature records along the way. wapo.st/3TZMSv7

This graphic about where people go after college is ENLIGHTENING and probably something my dad would have cut out from the newspaper if it was in there in 2002. @andrewvandam washingtonpost.com/business/…

Side saddle, bullfrog, wheelbarrow, top tube. The taxonomy of "doubling" in #Amsterdam. And the side-saddle bookworm, my all-time favorite.

Should I stay or should I go now? If I stay there will be trouble, if I go it will be double.

🔸 Elimination of Entry Level Writing Jobs A decent writer who is good with AI can produce 5-10x as much basic content as a low-end writer and at equal or better quality. Entry-level freelance writing jobs will be decimated w/in 5 years and replaced by AI wranglers. So sorry.

DALL-E 2 vs Midjourney vs StableDiffusion mega thread: photography, illustration, painters, abstract these image synths are like instruments - it's amazing we'll get so many of them, each with a unique "sound" 🤯 rules: same prompt, 1:1 aspect ratio, no living artists

YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN IC TRACK THAT GIVES FULL CAREER ADVANCEMENT BECAUSE OTHERWISE YOU GET PEOPLE ON THE ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT LADDER WHO DON’T CARE ABOUT THAT WORK BUT FELT STUCK OTHERWISE, WHICH IS BAD FOR EVERYONE
