It might be a little too close to the transfer window ending for this, but I’ve tried to grade the business Manchester United did this summer over @NostrabetUK. The midfield rebuild that was the initial target has been completed, but is it enough? #MUFC nostrabet.co.uk/blog/grading…

If you could take Manchester United’s word at face value, you’d perhaps admire their stance regarding Carrick. However, it just doesn’t fit. They categorically won’t make the changes to the squad in January that Carrick would need to stamp authority, there is also the sense

That Carrick might not have the coaching acumen to warrant being at the head of such a squad renewal. The reality is that the club don’t know what they want to do and can’t make a decision. My latest column for @NostrabetUK is here nostrabet.co.uk/blog/manches…

An optimist would say the delay is to get the international break where they would pay a manager out of their club midseason, but that would be optimism… and even then who would it even be?

Whole club wasn’t for sale. INEOS purchased what was on offer. Also this individual only started being interested when Qatar’s state bid was floating around. It was “what more do Manchester United fans want?” Before any of that came about.
🚨🗣️ - Kaveh Solhekol goes COMPLETELY IN on Sir Jim Ratcliffe live on air: “I'm going to tell you who's to blame for this situation at the moment. The person to blame is Jim Ratcliffe. “He bought the club almost three years ago. He bought 29% of it, when the Glazer family put the club up for sale. He didn't buy the whole club, he only bought 29% of it. And by buying 29%, it meant that the Glazers STAYED in place and Jim Ratcliffe got to run the football operations. “He's come in and he said, 'I know better than anyone else how to run this club. We're going to do things my way.' And look what it's turned out to be over the past two and a half years. “First of all, he said, 'I'm going to back Erik ten Hag. We've been chopping and changing managers too much.' Then he went off and started meeting Thomas Tuchel and any other manager who was available behind Erik ten Hag's back. “When they couldn't find somebody else, they gave Ten Hag a new contract and money to spend. A couple of games later, Ten Hag loses his job. “In the middle of the season, they beg Ruben Amorim to come to United. He doesn't even want to go there in the middle of the season; he wants to wait until the summer. They pay a fortune to get him, even though he plays three at the back, a totally different kind of football. “Dan Ashworth doesn't want him. Dan Ashworth leaves, Ruben Amorim comes in, they go all in on Ruben Amorim. That doesn't work out. They get rid of him. “They bring in Carrick as an interim. Okay, results are better. Then they give him the full-time job. “In the meantime, Ratcliffe has come in and said, 'We're going to do things my way. No player is going to get paid 250, 300 grand a week here anymore. That's not going to happen. We're not going to sign any players for more than 60, 70 million pounds.’ “So Mateus Fernandes, Elliot Anderson, Harry Kane, Declan Rice, all these players, we ain't going to be signing them. And also, we're only going to be signing players with Premier League experience. And we're going to sign forwards one window, then the following summer we're just going to sign midfielders, then next summer we're just going to sign defenders. “So this is Jim Ratcliffe's way of doing things. So he is to blame for this situation.” TAKE A BOW, SON. 👏👏👏👏👏👏

Wonder where that sense of decency was when that family's relentless siphoning of money through dividends put the club in the financial position where it had to lay people off. You honestly couldn't wish to meet a more selfish, disingenuous and generally clueless bunch.
🚨 NEW: Sources say the handling of the almost 500 job cuts clashed with Joel’s “sense of decency and old-fashioned values.” Joel was once far more hands-on: he spoke to then-executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward several times a day, personally signed off on trivial expenses such as paint orders for Old Trafford’s maintenance team, and vetoed staff furlough plans during Covid so employees stayed on full pay. He has not attended a game at Old Trafford since the Barcelona Champions League match in April 2019. The Glazers also control the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. [@MarkOgden_]

I don't know just who is getting the short end of the stick there.
Joel Glazer was once so hands-on as owner and co-chairman that he would speak to executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward “several times a day” about the day-to-day business at Old Trafford. One ESPN source said Joel was so involved in the club’s daily operations that he even had the final say on expenses as trivial as paint orders for the Old Trafford maintenance team. Joel also vetoed plans to furlough United staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, insisting that employees remain on full pay despite the cost to the club [@MarkOgden_]

I’d be amazed if either of those two brothers can even come remotely close to setting up the very basics of teams or alternative conference call programs. They probably won’t reach a decision as they’ll spend 50 minutes with Avram’s mic muted.
🚨 Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada are expected to hold conference calls with co-chairmen Joel and Avram Glazer and minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe to decide Michael Carrick's fate, per @ChrisWheelerDM. #MUFC

I know we’re pie-in-the-skying here but there is a gentleman who can work with Conte, can work exceedingly well on a budget and know when to move players on. He’s built multiple Scudetto winning sides. Beppe Marotta

I’m well aware that circumstances can change etc, but there’s something about the Eddie Howe links that tell a story. It’s just so hard to imagine Manchester United winning one of the two serious trophies with him. Part of the job is perception, it can go a long way. One of the

Most important things is for supporters to have hope, albeit misguided. The problem with Howe, a bit like a possible Solskjaer return last year, is that there isn’t really that much hope there. Now don’t get me wrong, someone like Conte or Nagelsmann

Could fail as spectacularly as Howe, but there would be at least be a period of hope, they wouldn’t be up against it from the start.

You’d imagine Darren Fletcher would be asked to interim against Chelsea, however Roma at home has to be seen as a winnable fixture for a new manager to start.

"Sell United and f*k off home" sing MUFC fans, the only good thing about the club right now. And it's right. The Glazers have made their money many times over for 21 years. Fans never wanted it and that takeover should never have been allowed. Do the right thing: sell up and go.

I think a fundamental problem comes that not one single member of the Glazer will feel any shame or embarrassment that their own manager is on the receiving end of ‘sacked in the morning’ chants from away fans in his own stadium.
