👀 Someone just bet $500,000 on Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to beat Democratic challenger Gina Hinojosa, per @betint_ai analysis of @Kalshi data. Unclear who placed the bet, but it was an institutional trader. Kalshi odds for Abbott victory currently stand at 68% cnn.com/2026/10/27/politics/…

Darline Graham, on the trail, on why the campaign is close — and whether her primary debate comment that national security is “not my thing” is hurting her in campaign. “I don't think it hurt me at all. I'm becoming very informed on national security,” she told me. “I never said it wasn't important. It's extremely important. But what's important to South Carolinians is affordability, the price of gas, putting food on the table.” Asked her if she spoke to Trump about her concerns about easing sanctions on Russia. Says she did. “He knows how I feel. Yes, he knows.” Why is the race so tight given Trump won her state three times? What does it say about her candidacy… “I think it's the national playbook. There are Democrats who are pouring money into this state. She's spending a million dollars a week on ads, so I think that's why it's so close.”

I'm doing something this week that I don't think CNN has ever done. I'm hosting a 7+ hour livestream EVERY day as we drive through battleground states, meet voters/candidates and just have fun with local unique activities. It's part travel show, part food show, part politics. We're starting with Pennsylvania, Ohio, then Michigan. Send through any ideas of places to go!! Streaming 10a-5p every day, first two hours Monday on YouTube, the rest on the CNN app.

The White House Correspondents' Association strongly objects to the decision to restrict a journalist’s coverage simply because the president didn’t care for their questioning. That is retaliation. The American public's right to an independent press depends on reporters being able to do their jobs without fear that challenging the president will cut off their access. - Jacqui Heinrich, WHCA President

CNN chairman Mark Thompson appeared on air this morning to discuss the federal judge's ruling that Trump's press ban likely violates the First Amendment. "It's a vote of confidence in free speech," Thompson said, and a "really big boost" as the legal battle continues.

New: When it comes to ad buying, Republicans are shopping at Whole Foods while Democrats buy from Costco Across nine of the most competitive Senate races last month, Republicans cumulatively outspent Democrats on broadcast TV ads by nearly 100% more, $233 million to $121 million, according to AdImpact data, but only saw about 40% more rating points. The disparity comes down to a difference in strategy. Republicans are relying heavily on outside groups, like super PACs, that pay elevated rates for ads and are making big buys late in the campaign, when inventory is stretched.
