I built speakeasy. because I was tired of overpaying for dictation.
Hold a key, say what you mean, let go. Your words show up where you were writing:
It’s live on Product Hunt today.
33 seconds: 🧵
Watching ChatGPT remotely use my app over MCP is a pretty sick feeling.
Don't forget you can just build stuff dudes.
I LIKE PRIVACY!
Where does your audio go?
Thru speakeasy. to Deepgram to Groq for transcription;
Groq handles optional Polish.

Talking thru a bug is faster than typing it.

Say it the way you’d say it.
Polish removed filler, sorts out spoken corrections and fixes punctuation.
Minimal, Balanced, or Strong. Or off.
Free dictations every week. $5/mo. for 12 hours, $9 for 30.
No account needed to download.
The code is open source and you can use your own API keys to run it if you want.
Mac and English only for now.
If you try it, let me know what you think, what breaks, or what I can do better!
I’m in the Product Hunt comments all day: producthunt.com/posts/speake…

A small widget on the edge of your screen.
It listens when you hold the key and gets out of the way when you don’t.
Nine themes. Tomorrow.
Tomorrow I’m launching the thing I’ve been building:
A Mac app so I can stop typing like 1873.
Hold a key. Talk. Let go.
It pastes into whatever you were writing in.
I thought I built something fire… then I shared it with some friends.
One of them said “have you heard of (competitor)? You should test it against them”.
Me realizing I had some work to do after running those benchmarks was not a good feeling.
“But I’m launching Thursday!”
But then I went for a walk, rolled my sleeves up, and got to work.
After ignoring everything for 6 hours I now have a tool that matches up to the competition a lot better.
The message here is to share your work with people early. Put it out there and prepare to have people tell you it’s ass.
Then get back to work.
It’s all about getting better every single time.
