it is hard indeed. Build for your passion not for the money.
stop thinking you can change your life by building your own product...
you literally have a ~0.03% chance of becoming a founder who makes $1M net income a year from his business within 5 years
most of you will fail, and don't think you're the one who won't just because you never give up (lol)
because 80% of a successful business is timing and luck, and the only founders you ever hear from are the ones it worked for
stop looking at the geniuses on X making $350k MRR solo and assuming you can repeat it
listen to me, the guy who provided marketing services for 35 AI/software products in 2026 and worked with 3 multi-billion dollar companies
this world is already programmed and sponsored by the same people
you can't be that ambitious founder from Silicon Valley anymore, the one who came up with a revolutionary idea, grew a billion dollar company from nothing and became a billionaire at 23...
no, you could not...
stop getting inspired by these hustler stories like Quittr or Cal AI or any of the others (where a group of students sold their startup for $50M+)
oh, and i have one more insider take for you, from the fren who sometimes resells huge, profitable companies to big investors (and helps founders make a real exit)
on average, the founder of a $50M+ valuation startup walks away with less than $3-5M, and here's why nobody posts this part:
you raise twice, you're diluted to 15-25% before anyone says the word exit
your investors hold a 1x liquidation preference, so they get paid out before you see a cent
whatever's left vests over 4 years with a 1-year cliff
and a chunk sits in an earnout tied to you staying and hitting numbers
let's do the real math:
$4M over 4 years is $83,333 a month, which honestly sounds incredible
now multiply it by your 0.01% odds of ever getting there
that's an expected value of $400
four hundred dollars. for six years of your life.
you think you make money from the product's revenue instead?
naaah man, stop living in a fantasy, for the first few years you reinvest 90% of revenue back into the product just to keep growth positive
f*ck, the most famous unicorn of the decade, Uber, took 14 years to post its first annual profit
and look how they did it: $1.1B income from operations, against a $1.6B gain from revaluing their stakes in Aurora, Didi, Joby and Grab
they became profitable as investors, not as a company
until you're 35+, with no background working at leading global companies, no VC background and none of the most influential people in this world in your network
don't waste your time on these stupid attempts to build something HUGE...
think about building the way you think about university
it's your basic school for making your first good connections, getting experience and understanding how every process in a company works from A to Z
but let's be fair, is there any chance to make decent money while you're still at school???
absolutely f*cking not...
so as an alternative, i really recommend having something else as your main thing and keeping building as a side hustle for learning
i picked these directions for myself:
> creator, because an owned audience is the only asset with no CAC
> growth operator, taking equity in other people's personal brands
> distribution services, the core moat in 2026
> angel checks into early stage, written from the first three
it's hyper simple: the first three pay cash, the fourth turns that cash into ownership, and i never need a single exit to work out
and i keep building as a side hustle for the soul, where i'm just learning to be a professional service provider
over the next 10-15 years that compounds into a real portfolio and it survives the coming crisis, because nothing in it depends on one outcome
and after i go through this path, i'll be a C-level service provider, a professional advisor and a reputable angel investor with a lot of VCs in my network
then i'll start building my own startup with trillion dollar potential
learn this and stop making dumb moves...
