An awful lot of the debate around #ElectricVehicles does seem to boil down to people who’ve never owned an EV telling EV owners what it’s like to own an EV

As a person with a disability myself and married to a woman in a wheelchair I’m tired of all these fuckers that go “what about the disabled”. Pedestrianise more streets and bring better accessible tube stations and we’re golden.
Fuck the cars.
It’s been a long time coming, but so good that it’s finally happened
As with so many things, that loud minority complaining about this will quickly forget what they were so vexed about

I fear next week's Twitter cabbie meltdown over Oxford Street's pedestrianisation will be apocalyptic. In 3 months' time, no one will care and will wonder why it wasn't done years ago
Remember the outrage when they removed cars from Trafalgar Square? Aldwych? Now, no one cares

Why should a pensioner on a £13K income be exempt from income tax when a person of working age is not? Those of working age do not receive free travel or all sorts of other discounts to which pensioners are entitled. We do not exempt people from tax based on how many dependents they have, or how much housing in their area costs, so why exempt individuals based on age?
John Healey, the chancellor, is expected to announce a 3.9 per cent rise to the full state pension while protecting those on lower incomes from income tax thetimes.com/uk/politics/art…

Police: we must inform you your father is under investigation for pedo stuff.
Woman: Oh God. Ok. Should I tell the world?
Police: No, dont. It could hamper our investigation
Woman: ok, I'll keep my children safe.
Police: Do.
Piers Morgan: I hate that woman, she is to blame.

This has been Putin's dream for years: That his country, with GDP per capita lower than Poland, unable to conquer Donbas since 2014, will be treated as an equal to the US and China.

These people don't know the first thing about their own history, which they claim to be so "proud" of
Winston Churchill and Volodymyr Zelensky should never be mentioned in the same breath.
Churchill led Britain through its darkest hour and helped save our country.
Zelensky, meanwhile, continues to demand billions from British taxpayers.
Comparing the two is an insult to Churchill's legacy.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Churchill asked for aid from the entire commonwealth and got Roosevelt to approve the lendlease act to aid the UK.

Worth remembering that a lot of the people insisting that a jumping/flying Tesla roadster will become an actual product own shares in Tesla
It is in their financial interests for the stunt to be perceived by the markets as a success
Marques Brownlee says Tesla will never deliver the Rocket version of their new Roadster:
“There’s no way you or I will be able to buy this car. We might as well ignore this becoming a real product. The base one, the fan car one, I can see that being possible. But at this point, I don’t even think it matters, because Tesla has proven to us that the Roadster is by far their least important product.”
I think Marques will be proven wrong, on all fronts. They didn’t spend years developing it to just not make it. While this new Roadster still has plenty of development work to go, the 2017 Roadster was much more of a prototype than this new one IMO. Tesla wants to deliver for all the people that put down deposit money all those years ago, and I think they will.

My favourite bit of the Tesla Roadster not a Roadster launch is that they want you to give them $250,000 up front - then you read the small print 🤣

We are definitely not playing in the same league. One part is playing on vibes and stock balooning tactics and the other one is making products that will be useful in the real world.
Pendant que la France applaudit une citadine électrique, Tesla et SpaceX font voler une voiture au-dessus d'un semi-remorque.

On ne joue définitivement plus dans la même ligue.

Annualised UK GDP growth so far in 2026, with two-thirds of the year gone, is 2.7-2.8%
Is expected to slow in q4, but that was also expected in q3. And q2.
City economists (eg Pantheon) say “we have to shift from describing UK growth as resilient to calling it strong”.

When we started responding to Russia’s operation against our data centers, and when our strikes reached Yandex’s data centers, it suddenly became a little easier to breathe on many social media platforms. A lot of people noticed it. There was less hate, less division, and fewer provocations.
Because there were fewer bots. And it’s pretty clear where those bots were coming from – if they disappeared when Yandex went offline. This proves, again and again, that Europe is not the source of the problems. Europe is not the one making everything more difficult.
Most importantly, we need people in America, every morning, when the day in Europe is already moving toward evening, to really see what is happening. To see the truth.

Peace never comes through weakness. Today, representatives of the U.S. Congress were in Kyiv – a bipartisan delegation – and I am grateful to them for visiting Ukraine at such a difficult time. They asked: what is needed to end the war? The answer must be strong. There must be sanctions under the Lindsey Graham bill, there must be support for Ukraine in protecting lives, and there must be pressure on Russia for its war. And today, there was a conversation between the leaders of America and Russia. A conversation that leads to something different.
Recently, there was a European decision to lift sanctions on Russian oligarchs. Since then, Russian strikes and the torment of people have only increased. This past week alone, there was a brutal Russian missile strike on a residential building in Pryluky, aerial bombs were dropped on Kramatorsk – on ordinary city buses – and there have been constant attacks on Kyiv’s energy infrastructure and on the life-sustaining infrastructure in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Odesa, and our other cities. Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds wounded.
The Russians are compensating for their inability to achieve their objectives on the battlefield with this kind of terror. This year, Russia is weaker on the battlefield than at any other point in the war. That is why Putin is relying on terror. That is why he is relying on attempts to strike backroom deals to secure some form of pressure relief for Russia, in order to buy more time and more opportunities for war.
Any easing of sanctions against Russia without a clear and lasting de-escalation agreement with Russia is an obvious weakness. It plays into Russia’s hands – allowing it to kill more, wage war for longer, have even less respect for America, and inflict even greater losses and damage on the world.
Ukraine is ready to take symmetrical de-escalatory steps, and the American team knows our position. Our strikes on Russian oil refineries and other oil facilities are a response to Russia’s years-long campaign of terror against Ukraine’s energy sector. Ukraine will not set Russian oil refineries on fire if Russia does not destroy our energy infrastructure. This is the kind of agreement we are proposing to America, and we believe the United States has enough power to achieve such a compromise.
Gifts to Putin will not bring peace or any benefit to the civilized world. Russia will “repay” the diesel with further terror and perfidy. Allowing Russia to sell petroleum products is an investment in a war that must be ended, not prolonged. What is needed is real de-escalation with Russia on a reciprocal basis.
We count on America’s fair support for our defense of life, for our defense of people in Ukraine – and on the United States having a correspondingly strong conversation with Russia. A strong one, not a weak one.
