This book exists and everyone should read it. amazon.com/Uncontrollability…
Someone could probably write a book (if they haven’t already) about the cycle of technology productizing the removal of friction in the name of convenience only for us to discover that the friction was a load-bearing part of the social compact.

Seems much less stressful when you watch the final minutes of the @NUFBFamily win over MSU this way. (Audio: @WGNRadio)

Oh, and you get to read about what Elisabeth Elliot was teaching about manhood and womanhood in the 1970s. Not that anyone wants to revisit that topic today, either.

This is also why the recent Vanderbilt report is so bizarre: the report makes postmodern relativism into some kind of bogeyman. But the problem on American campuses is not “relativism,” it’s the cultic, dogmatic faith in an extraordinarily narrow moral and cultural worldview.

The Closing of the American Mind has some evergreen moments but one of the ways it shows its age is that Bloom is describing an academic climate where moral and cultural relativism prevails, whereas the academic climate today is marked by moral dogmatism and cultural orthodoxy.
The main reading for my conservatism class this week is Allan Bloom's Closing of the American Mind. The introduction beings with this: "There is one thing a professor can be absolutely certain of: almost every student entering the university believes, or says he believes, that truth is relative."

A remarkable man who played a major role in the life of @timkellernyc.
Along with the entire Presbyterian Church in America, Covenant Theological Seminary mourns the loss of pastor, evangelist, and denominational founding father Rev. Kennedy Smartt, who went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the age of 101. Though we grieve with his family and friends, we also celebrate with them his entrance into the presence of the Savior he loved so much. Read more: covenantseminary.edu/news/re…

Seriously, this really is one of those "stop what you're doing and read" stories. Incredible reporting on an incredible story. It even has drone footage of the defection. Un-be-freakin-lievable work by @mjluxmoore @justmiel Annie Ng @ebrown725 Gift link: wsj.com/world/russian-defect…

Later this morning, in Unseen Things: * how we found the man behind the AI curtain (it had to be 'Her') * why I wouldn't have published 'Theo of Golden' * how the two best novels of the last two centuries answer the problem of evil (are you Team Grossman or Team Dostoevsky?)

Have my new friends in the Faroe Islands helped cracked the code to Christian endurance amid secularism? I wouldn’t put anything past these resilient people tucked inside treeless mountains on the shores of the mighty Atlantic. thegospelcoalition.org/artic…
