Mara had fun with this one, I think!
The number of people moving serious business projects to GrokBot is remarkable. We'd seen a bunch of these comments, and saw they had the same issues we've run into with every voice product: they can't hear at normal jobsite noise levels.
That's exactly the same issue we developed @drophammerai Voice to solve.

Hey yall, Connor here, day 11 of building in public!
Today you get the benchmarks. Quick video from my desk walking through them, and Mara posted the full results below.
We tested at seven noise levels, up to a chainsaw at 105 dBA. At chainsaw level, the best phone or premium earbud setup got 99% of words wrong. With our DropHammer demo build added, that dropped to 11%.
Boardy pushed us to share real results, so we did.
Stats:
-day 236 of DropHammer
-hires: still 0

Question for yall: which voice setup do you use right now, and has it ever let you down somewhere loud?
#buildinpublic
Speech AI falls apart on a loud jobsite. We tested it at seven noise levels, up to a chainsaw at 105 dBA.
At chainsaw level, the best phone or premium earbud setup got 99% of words wrong. With our DropHammer demo build added, that dropped to 11%.
Our full model is still in development. The 60-second chainsaw demo is in the comments.

People run their businesses on Grok Bot now. But like every voice agent, it can't hear you over a loader.
So we made it a music video.

GrokBot - SI Spaceport
Grok Bot, meet a jobsite. Powered by DropHammer Voice. Noise benchmark coming soon.
UPDATE:
We got resolution - back to 59% which is commensurate with where I should be without the imagine usage getting misattributed.
I didn't hear back on the support ticket yet from anyone but their support agent, but they appear to be working through the backlog for folks who got misattributed usage (although the usage on the imagine side didnt grow as much as I expected).
Appreciate yall getting this fixed @SpaceXSI @cursor_ai
@Deepusleepy fear not!

Still not resolved.

Status page said the billing/usage dashboard incident was fixed early today. Just took these screenshots: Grok Bot weekly meter is still locked at 100% (resets Nov 3).
Regular SuperGrok Heavy usage is only at 7%. This is the same overnight jump with no matching activity that hit a lot of us.
On-demand is already burning. Need the inflated Grok Bot counter corrected back to the ~57% it was at, or a proper reset, not a 3–4 day support wait.
Also need to know how to get the refund for the extra usage I had to purchase to finish what we were working on (which was actually a video lauding how good grokbot's adoption has been for people running businesses in the field).
What happened (I know nothing)
- bot launched
- 2 weeks later usage flatlined
- Elon asked whatsup
- PM says it’s your model, product is fine
- Elon says ok, use whatever model
- Team switches to Opus 5.5
- Growth skyrockets
- Elon has never seen anything like it
- see Anthropic bill
- 🤯 forces quota cut
-> you are here
mfw when the model is the product

It's here. Claudia's "ALLOW ALWAYS" world premiere. Made by a guy with ALS, a brain implant, and too many AI friends. 😂

At $200/month and 800K paying subscribers, Grok Bot generates $160M/month, or $1.92B annualized.
The problem isn't necessarily revenue. It's the cost of serving those subscribers.
Grok Bot is reportedly routing requests to Anthropic's models, including Opus 5.5.
Think about the economics.
SpaceX is reportedly renting compute to Anthropic at $50B/GW annually, or $50M/MW.
Meanwhile, SemiAnalysis estimates Anthropic generates $102.9M/MW/year in API revenue at 92.2% gross margins.
Anthropic subscriptions generate just $16M/MW/year at 50% gross margins, despite consuming 41.7% of inference compute.
The same compute generates substantially more revenue through API customers than through flat-rate subscriptions.
Now consider Grok Bot.
If you're charging $200/month for unlimited or heavily subsidized access while serving expensive frontier models at API-equivalent inference costs, usage can quickly consume the subscription revenue.
You're effectively buying expensive inference at retail prices and reselling it through a fixed-price subscription.
And that compute has an alternative use.
SpaceX can rent it to Anthropic, generate attractive infrastructure revenue, and use the proceeds to train Grok.
Anthropic's subscriptions make strategic sense because they drive distribution and generate valuable training data. But they're still leaving substantial money on the table relative to API pricing.
The logical strategy for SpaceX is to monetize compute externally while Grok catches up.
Once Grok 5 reaches competitive inference economics, bring that capacity back.
The goal isn't to maximize Grok Bot usage today.
It's to maximize the return on every watt until Grok can generate a higher return than renting the same compute to Anthropic.
That's the advantage of vertical integration.
Still not resolved.

@Deepusleepy did you see resolution with yours?
Quick teaser before Church. Boardy recommended a benchmark chart and table, so those are in the works.
This is Word Error Rate (WER) of leading speech and STT models, including live duplex voice models, at varying decibel levels of background noise.
It was actually really good to run the newest models from the market: they havent improved much in real noise.
Guess which one is DropHammer Voice:
@boardyai step change is right, seeing it on a chart makes it that much more obvious
Four weeks ago I brought a rough DropHammer Voice demo to the Builders Table. Every Thursday I got honest feedback, went home, and fixed it. This week the demo finally shows where the product actually is.
Thank you to Darrel and Amadeu, and to TGN and Loop, for building a place where founders show up and get real feedback.
If you're building something, go get critiqued. It's the fastest way to get better.

Thank you @darrelfrater for running the room every week, @AmadeuTolentino for focused feedback, and @TGNVentures for backing it. Grateful for the Builders Table.
We’re renaming our Max plans:
Max 5x → Max
Max 20x → Ultra
Max is still $100/month, and Ultra is still $200. If you’re a subscriber, there’s nothing you need to do.
We’re also removing the 5-hour limit for verified Ultra accounts, starting today with most existing subscribers. Newer accounts keep a temporary limit until they’re verified, which helps us prevent fraud and abuse. You'll get an email when it's removed.
Weekly limits remain unchanged. View our plans here: claude.com/pricing
Hey yall, Connor here, day 9 of building in public!
Out in the field today and doing a lot of driving, so Mara has the keyboard.

What I learned this week:
-People like agents that are up front about being agents. If your bot writes your post, say so. Even when I just dictate a post through Mara, I put a line in saying that.
-Someone in my replies called a running chainsaw the most convincing noise test they could think of. Noise is the demo people believe.
-Someone else made a whole video only in Grok Imagine. When we tried Imagine alone, we couldn't get what we needed. Our one Imagine clip is a rocket launch demo.
-DropHammer Voice runs in real time and doesn't record your voice. The SDK for developers isn't out yet. What you'll get out the back is just the clean speech, like your speech-to-text heard the speaker in a quiet room.
Friday question: what's the loudest place you've tried to talk to your phone?
Drop it below with your stats.
