The Gulf of Mexico is called the Gulf of America in the same way Twitter is called X in that none of us will call it that because it's a stupid idea from a man with too much power.

Seeing people go ‘America should learn to prepare for fires like Australia does’ is weird cause we would not be prepared for this fire
It is their winter, at absolute best our firefighters we would be beginning the preparation steps not locked in all prepared
Remember when Musk and Zuck were threatening to fight each other in the Colosseum?

BREAKING: Fossil fuel giant @WoodsideEnergy's plans to dump 4 million tons of carbon each year underneath the ocean floor at Scott Reef using a technique that has never before been attempted before in Australia, have been revealed by the Federal Environment Department.
The carbon dumping plans, also known as CCS, were released on January 3 while many Australians were off work for summer holidays or at the beach & are only open for public comment for 10 days!
After previously describing offshore carbon dumping, at Browse as “high risk, high cost” and “unproven” in an application to the federal regulator, Woodside is now relying on this failed technology in order to try and get this dismal project approved!
Absolute madness. We can't let it happen! #StopWoodside #SaveScottReef

In all my years in and studying disaster management, I have never seen a president (elect) blame a jurisdiction WHILE the disaster was still out of control. It distracts, is cruel to first responders and victims, and could impede effective response.

Suicide Prevention Australia has urged politicians to reconsider the U16s social media ban 📲
"While we acknowledge challenges with online platforms, this bill fails to consider positive aspects of social media in supporting young people's mental health and sense of connection"
The social media ban may put kids at risk.
Grooming victims may be convinced that THEY will be in trouble if they seek help because they were using social media illegally. Tactics of fear and blame are used to silence kids who are victims and this provides an extra avenue.
I don't think the Aus government has gone far enough with the social media ban. I think we should ban ALL of us from this site.

Polite ways to protest:
- whisper your demands as a wish whenever you see a shooting star
- shake your head silently and tut quietly when you see injustice
- write your demands on cute stationery with pleases and thank yous and finish with "no worries if not"
Fyi I copied this to the other places for text posts and even with a fraction of following there is a lot more engagement.
This place is a wasteland. But if anyone is still here just wanted to let you know, we're getting a lot done elsewhere.
Abortion access is healthcare.
First Orange Hospital, now Queanbeyan... NSW this has to stop.
And we also can't have places that say on paper that they provide abortion but in reality shame and push people away from it against their wishes.
