If you refuse to consider Resident Evil (2026) a proper Resident Evil movie, then by that same logic, you shouldn’t consider Resident Evil 7 a proper Resident Evil game either. The irony is that RE7 introduced an entirely new protagonist, enemies that strayed far from the traditional zombie formula, and barely any direct involvement from Umbrella. Yet it’s widely accepted as part of the franchise. You can’t criticize the 2026 movie for taking a different approach when the games themselves have done exactly that. Being faithful to Resident Evil doesn’t mean every entry must feature the original characters, familiar enemies, or follow the established formula. Resident Evil is more than just its familiar characters and zombies. You can’t pick and choose when a new direction counts as part of the franchise. #ResidentEvil
