I'm running my race with all the seriousness and dedication it deserves, because at the end, if I fail, the blame rests on no one shoulders but mine....

During my sojourn in Epe, Lagos State, I must say that I managed my finances quite prudently, ensuring that the basic necessities of life; food, shelter, and a roof over my head were quite affordable. In fact, I would almost describe them as cheap, although I understand that affordability is relative and what is cheap to one person may not be the same for another. However, there was one recurring expense that nearly became the death of me: buying fuel every single day simply because there was hardly any electricity. Mhennnnnnnnnn!!!

If I were to take you through the business of agberos in Lagos, particularly those who collect daily levies from commercial transport operators, and explain just how much money they make every single day, I swear, you might begin to reconsider your career choices.

The funniest thing I heard today was this nigga advising his friend to build a house before thinking of buying a car. Brr, have you considered how much it actually costs to build a house in this economy? Sometimes, people speak as though building a house is a small financial undertaking.

Undergraduate babe btw, sometimes I wonder whether some of you understand the weight of meeting even the most basic needs, from putting food on the table to taking care of those little miscellaneous expenses that come with being a student. A few years before I left Nigeria, I met a young lady who was in her final year. At the time, I saw a future with her. I thought to myself, perhaps this is someone I could marry someday, someone I could grow with and build a life alongside. She opened up to me about her struggles, the difficulties at home, her parents' financial situation and the weight of trying to survive as a student. There was no pretence, no attempt to appear sophisticated or impress me. She was simply being honest about her circumstances, and I appreciated that. But what I found rather disturbing was her interpretation of my kindness. Whenever I sent her money for feeding or helped with one little school expense or another, she would turn around and describe me as a MAGA, as though my willingness to support her meant I was foolish enough to be exploited. And it didn't end with me. She extended the same narrative to her friends; Imagine going all the way to someone's hostel to spend time with her, sometimes carrying provisions along because you genuinely wanted to make life a little easier for her, only to discover that she had been telling her friends that you were nothing but a MUGU Honestly, that was an eye-opener. It wasn't the money that bothered me; it was the sheer disrespect for the intention behind it. There is a difference between taking advantage of someone's generosity and appreciating someone who genuinely wants to make your burden a little lighter. Sometimes, I wonder whether some undergraduate ladies truly understand the difference between being supported and being played.

A few days before I left Lagos for Australia 🇦🇺, I had gone to Lekki phase1 to collect some documents. On my way back home, I encountered a group of young agbero boys, most of them seemingly in their 20s, who approached me and began begging for money. I must admit, I was irritated. Out of frustration, I responded in Yoruba, “Ẹ lọ wá iṣẹ́ ṣe,” which simply means, “Go and find something meaningful to do.” I walked past them, thinking that was the end of the encounter. But one of the boys suddenly ran after me, delivered a rather heavy knock to the back of my head, and took off immediately. As he ran away, he shouted, “Stingy man!”

Mhen! The extent to which some guys are willing to gamble with the very last resources they have continues to amaze me. I crossed paths with a guy yesterday who was telling me how he had been broke for about 6months now. This nigga had managed to save about 4million, although I had no idea how long it took him to put that money together. Along the line, he got the opportunity to associate with some top guys whose names were already making waves within the community. They promised to bring him into the fold and help him find his feet. Of course, there was a price to pay, he needed money to acquire the necessary tools. With hopes of a massive financial breakthrough, he committed his entire 4million savings to buying those tools, believing that the investment would eventually translate into a life-changing payday. Sadly, the expected breakthrough never came. Nothing materialised, and the very people who made the promises could not turn those promises into reality. Now, he is back to square one. 6months without financial stability, his savings gone, and seemingly nothing left to fall back on. No money, no account balance, no clear direction, and perhaps, no dream left to hold on to.

At the end of the day, it still comes down to perspective, just as you rightly pointed out. Sometime around 2020–2021, I was fortunate enough to make over 20 million through PancakeSwap and the Algorand blockchain. At the time, I deliberately chose not to buy a car because I feared that doing so might leave me financially stranded. Ironically, I eventually went broke regardless. I lost the money through the very same business that had brought it to me in the first place, largely because I lacked the depth of knowledge required to sustain and grow what I had earned. The point I want to establish is that the money was a one-time opportunity, not a sustainable source of income. Had I bought a car with that money, I would probably still have the car today, even if I had become broke all the same. In other words, I ended up experiencing the same financial reality, only without the car. Fast-forward to 2023, I took a step back, gathered myself and became deeply committed to understanding the business of making, managing and sustaining money. I invested more in knowledge and financial discipline until I became confident that I understood how to keep my cash flow alive rather than depend on occasional financial breakthroughs. When I eventually made another 10million, I spent 9million on the Camry I drive today, leaving myself with 1million. And that really, is the difference between then and now. Back then, I had money but lacked the knowledge to sustain it. Today, I have a better understanding of how money works, how to preserve it and how to keep it coming. I am still pushing, still building and still growing. However, survival is no longer something I lose sleep over.
at the end of the day, everything comes down to perspective and choices. if you feel it’s okay to buy a car inside 20m, do it as long as it makes you happy, and if you don’t feel it’s okay to get a car, you have your choices and if it makes you happy too, do it too. make everybody do wetin e wan do, if e later turn red, you go chop your L move on..

Sometimes, I look at the kind of friendships some guys maintain, and I honestly struggle to understand the value they bring to one another. You have friends you wine and dine with, go clubbing with, gist with, spend lavishly with, and share good times with. But when life gets difficult and you genuinely need a little financial assistance, you cannot even consider reaching out to anyone within that circle; We aren’t even talking about begging for donations, or expecting anyone to carry your financial responsibilities. Just someone who can lend you a helping hand when you're in a difficult situation, knowing fully well that the money will be repaid….. So, I ask myself, what exactly is the essence of such friendship? If people can comfortably share luxury, laughter and enjoyment with you but become strangers the moment you need a little support, what depth of friendship are we really talking about?

If President Tinubu could rise from humble beginnings by driving a taxi in Chicago, then I see no reason why I cannot carve out my own success story by driving Bolt in Nigeria.

Gold to remain below $4,000 for the rest of the year. Quite a remarkable smackdown.
If BTCUSD breaks below $80K and holds below that level, then the big short is set. The first target is $74K, with $64K as the second target. And as for XAUUSD, it will touch $4,000 this week, break below that level next week, and remain below $4,000 for the rest of the year.

Being asked to come and pick me up carries far more reassurance and trust than simply hearing, ‘I’m coming over.’ If you know, you know……..
