Before the outage begun, users were encountering issues on the platform before servers crashed. Afterwards, the remaining servers and website either crashed or became dysfunctional. Hours later, Roblox displayed the infamous image stating "We're making things more awesome. Be back soon." -- they were not going to be back soon. Roblox posted nearly 70 hours after the issue begun that regions were gradually being brought back online, and after nearly 73 hours, Roblox posted that Roblox is finally back online. The outage marked the last time Roblox had 0 players, with the previous instance of 0 CCU happening in 2016. While users have speculated that the in-game Chipotle promotion for free burritos running at the time had led to the servers being overloaded and shutting down, Roblox dismissed that rumor. The official cause of the outage was linked to alterations in Roblox's infrastructure, specifically with a streaming feature in the Consul Cluster & BoltDB freelist page manangement.
