⚠️ A malicious Electrum server can hide the payment you just sent and show a fake one instead.
If you then bump the fee (RBF), you sign the attacker’s version and lose the coins. One user already did.
The fake address even matched the last 4 characters of the real one.
Fixed in 4.8.3. Update now and always check the full address before signing anything.

🇨🇳JUST IN: Chinese prosecutors have moved to confiscate 61,896 $BTC (~$5B+) seized by UK authorities from Qian Zhimin, the mastermind behind one of China’s biggest crypto-linked frauds.
The Tianjin court accepted the case. Between 2014-2017 her company raised over 40 billion yuan (~$5.7B) from 100,000+ investors through fake high-yield products. Most of the money went into Bitcoin, luxury goods, and Ponzi payouts.
UK police seized the coins years ago. A London High Court recently ruled that Chinese law should govern victims’ claims to the Bitcoin.
Now China wants the coins back.
The biggest cross-border crypto confiscation battle just got real.

An ancient whale just woke up after 13 years and sent 0.001 BTC. 🐋
The address still holds 1,346 $BTC, about $115 million.
Those coins arrived in 2013 through Multibit and BTC-e, when Bitcoin was around $178 and the stack was worth roughly $240,000.
Thirteen years later, that is about a 478x gain, and the only thing that moved was dust.
