I feel obliged to point out that the century still has 74 years to run! Although, admittedly, the Nutcracker is quite a big deal. Just waiting for one in Cheshire!

'Call in and see me at the surgery' Another example of the parallel universe of Ambridge. #TheArchers

House Sparrow? We have had all of them here in rural Cheshire but HS is very infrequent.

This man just took the same plastic recorder that used to sound like a dying goose in elementary school and casually started shredding Sultans of Swing on it. Eyes half-closed, fully committed, fingers flying like he actually practiced this instead of just surviving Hot Cross Buns. Somewhere a music teacher is watching this and having an existential crisis. The recorder has seen things. It will never be the same.

You'd probably have to have to eat much of your frozen food within the first couple of couple of days. Uncooked (unless you have an open fire or bottled gas).

He has become 'The' Village Idiot, it seems. Bizarre recharacterisation.

What's the difference between that and ticking a bird seen through a scope or bins? Oh and visually impaired birders; are their lists any less valid?

I am dumbfounded by many of the comments in response to this. I sincerely believe that if the BBC goes there is no existing alternative broadcaster that will make up for its absence. I wonder if anyone here actually listens to BBC radio or The World Service.
So BBC Three, Scotland and R4 Extra are going. We are watching the death by a thousand cuts of a great British institution. From major sporting events, to national celebrations, the BBC has a unique ability to bring the country together. But, successive Governments have left our BBC in a state of managed decline. @LibDems are calling for a permanent charter to end this cyclical uncertainty hanging over the BBC’s future and protect it for generations to come. Once the BBC is gone, it is gone for good. It's time we made the choice to save it.

Snow Bunting. Please don't ask Google - there are some brilliant bird books to be had. I recommend 'Europe' s Birds' published by Bird life International in 2021.

Hi, Stephen - I'm sorry to hear this. I listen exclusively to BBC Radio stations and I feel neither gaslit nor brainwashed. In my opinion the BBC is one of the more reliable and balanced sources of information and it would be a disaster if we were to lose it.
