A warning for U.S. policymakers on Venezuela:
Chavismo's mismanagement of this crisis is fueling anti-American sentiment among Venezuelans.
If things were managed differently, Venezuelans would right now supporting the U.S. in record numbers.
But the missteps of the current government send sings that U.S. policy is disconnected from the daily suffering of ordinary Venezuelans.
The United States has a strong hand to play in Venezuela. It has to exercise it with speed, precision, and a visible commitment to the Venezuelan people.
That is what can weaken Chavismo’s narrative, protect U.S. interests, and create the conditions for Venezuela's stability, recovery and political transition.
