I want to take the United States from car required to car optional. Living car free shouldn't be an impediment to obtaining and keeping a job, having access to fresh food or simply enjoying time with loved ones.

ALT GRAPHIC ID: Today, the Illinois Supreme Court upheld the Pretrial Fairness Act, ensuring that a person's ability to pay cash bail does not unfairly dictate their presumption of innocence in the court system. Cash bail does not make communities safer, and it never has; it has simply exacerbated existing inequities and disparities in the criminal legal system. Pretrial detention, as a result of the inability to pay bail, further decimates communities that have long been most impacted by mass incarceration, and the destabilization of households and families. I am grateful that we can move forward to implement this legislation to uphold justice and equity.

Today, on the 11th Anniversary of DACA, I celebrate the Dreamers who enrich our nation every day, and who deserve lasting stability in the only home they have ever known.
Dreamers are Americans — and I want them to know they have an advocate and ally with me in the White House.

Quick traffic study on Broadway in Lakeview East because it was so nice out this afternoon.
Broadway is prime for pedestrianization! 70% of the people moving on Broadway are restricted to just 43% of the street!

Good morning! We’re retiring the “Chicago is the most violent city” narrative. Spread the word! We’re not even in the top 15, as reported by Forbes. Violence is an American reality. Stop making Chicago the face of it. Cc: the business community. forbes.com/sites/laurabegley…

.@Brandon4Chicago knows the struggles of working families and the need to stand up for strong unions, make the rich pay their fair share, to invest in affordable housing, quality health care, better schools, and good jobs. That's why I'm proud to endorse him for mayor of Chicago.
