Your Majesty Ssaabasajja Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II,
I am writing to you with a heart overflowing with joy, gratitude, and profound humility following our meeting at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
Your Majesty, the extraordinary gesture you extended in welcoming and greeting me personally during the Masaza Cup Finals was a moment of immense honor & privilege that I will forever cherish.
To witness your radiant smile, your vitality, and your deep love as you stood before your subjects brought an indescribable wave of happiness not just to me, but to all of Buganda and Uganda.
Your presence at Wankulukuku was a powerful testament to your enduring strength and an anchor of unity for your people. As a loyal subject, seeing you grace the kingdom with such warmth and grace fills me with renewed hope and pride.

PRESS STATEMENT
Kampala, Monday, November 2, 2026
UPDF Commences Withdrawal of Bilaterally Deployed Troops in Somalia
The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has embarked on the drawdown of troops deployed in Somalia under bilateral arrangements with the Federal Government effective immediately. The first cohort of troops under the phased withdrawal operation have already arrived back in Uganda. The operation to withdraw troops deployed in Somalia under bilateral arrangements will be completed in the next few days.
The UPDF will gradually withdraw all its forces in Somalia, including those currently deployed under the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) by the close of 2027. This will mark the end of Uganda’s enduring 20-year peace and stabilization support operations in Somalia, permitting the Somali Armed Forces to assume full responsibility for security in the country.

His parents named Mbuuse Yokana, the world knew him as Kapere Lufotose and his friends called him Taata Twamp.
He was a friend to many, a beautiful soul whose presence touched lives, and I have no doubt that he will be dearly missed.
I’m one of the many who were fortunate enough to experience his friendship. He was a man who refused to be defined by his appearance, he let his sincerity, character and heart speak for him. And what a beautiful heart he had! What an interesting character!
A loving husband who made his wife proud, a gifted artist who understood the power of his voice and chose to use it for the good of his country. Kapere lived a life of purpose, serving his country in the best way he knew how. He was a patriot, a gentleman, and a man whose infectious humour could light up even the saddest of moments.
It is painful to accept that we will no longer have you amongst us to share those moments with you, my brother.
But perhaps that is the price we pay for having known someone whose presence meant so much.
To Maama Twamp and the children, may God give you strength and comfort in the days ahead. I pray that the beautiful memories you shared with him will become a source of strength whenever the pain of his absence becomes unbearable. You will not walk this difficult journey alone.
Rest peacefully, my man. Your contribution will not be forgotten, and your spirit will live on in the lives you touched, including myself.

Update
URA has adjusted its CIF exchange rate for the US dollar from UGX 3,881 to UGX 4,147.66. This increase will raise import taxes this month at a time when many Ugandans are already feeling the pressure of a stronger dollar.
Why does URA continue to apply USD rates instead of using UGX? Supporting local currency would better align with the goal of buying Ugandan and building Uganda.

A few moments back, I just received the most devastating news regarding the untimely passing of our brother, dear friend and comrade Yokana Mbuuse fondly called Kapere Lufotose. A man who made every dark moment light. A man who loved his country and wished it well! A loss so difficult to take in.

Here in Ntinda,
A kilo of beans is now UGX 8,000 from UGX 6,000.
A kilo of bread is UGX 8,500 from UGX 6,000.
Wheat flour is UGX 9,000 from UGX 7,000.
At this rate, we are settling for cassava and cabbages.
What’s happening in your area?

Forty-four years ago, at just 26, my life partner, Dr Kizza Besigye, abandoned his career as a medical doctor to join a liberation struggle against dictatorship in Uganda.
We won that war. But tragically, the liberators became the oppressors.
Kizza refused to betray the ideals for which he had risked his life. In 2001, he challenged his former commander for the presidency…../2

Highlights from the United States Bureau of Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs 2026 Investment Climate Statements: Uganda
-Security forces arrest opposition supporters and hold them in detention long past the constitutionally mandated limit. Reports of torture allegedly perpetrated by elements within the official security forces persist. Security services routinely use excessive force to stop peaceful protests and demonstrations.
-An uncertain political environment increases risk to foreign businesses and investors. Uganda has never experienced a peaceful political transition. In the January 2026 elections, President Museveni won a seventh term with 72 percent of the vote amid reports of political violence and restrictions on democratic institutions. Speculation about the 2031 elections and the perceived absence of a succession plan adds to political uncertainty.
-Endemic corruption remains a serious problem and a major obstacle to investment. While anti-corruption laws extend to family members of officials and political parties, in practice, many well-connected individuals enjoy de facto immunity for corrupt acts and are rarely prosecuted in court.

Ivan Ssemwanga was buried in a sealed coffin. Public viewing was prohibited and photos banned. His body arrived in Uganda under ANOTHER MAN'S NAME. And @UgEmbassySA allegedly never saw his autopsy report.
I did some digging. Here's why Ivan might still be alive. 😳

UPDATE: Tensions are mounting across the Teso sub-region after former Works minster Musa Ecweru, a senior commander of the auxiliary vigilante force known as the "Arrow Boys," issued a public ultimatum demanding that retired former Deputy Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Lt Gen Peter Elwelu, surrender to recognised authorities or face a coordinated hunt.
