The @NHLBruins honored the memory of Alex Gimenez, a former Bruins and @RedSox employee who passed away from cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer) in September, during their Hockey Fights Cancer night. We were honored to have legacy caregivers and CCF volunteers Lane and Alie represent the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation at the game and help celebrate Alex’s life and legacy. In Alex’s honor, the Boston Bruins Foundation made a generous $10,000 gift to CCF, matched by a $10,000 gift from the Red Sox Foundation. Proceeds from signed puck sales will also support our mission to find a cure and improve the quality of life for those affected by cholangiocarcinoma. We are deeply grateful to the Boston Bruins, the Red Sox Foundation, and everyone who helped make this meaningful tribute possible. Thank you for honoring Alex’s memory and helping shine a light on bile duct cancer. 💚

You pick a Medicare plan in the fall. It feels like a one-year decision. For a lot of us, it isn’t. In most states, choosing Medicare Advantage can mean you are never again able to buy the supplement that makes Traditional Medicare affordable.  Join ERDC's livestream Friday, October 30 at 1 PM ET. They’ll walk through what A, B, C, D, and the supplement do, as well as the questions to ask before December 7. Register: luma.com/ynbsi7pt

In honor of Stewart Mather, who passed away from cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), his family is helping turn grief into something meaningful for the community where he grew up. Thanks to the Mather Family Giving Fund, the Village of Hinsdale, Illinois, has renovated a local playground in Stewart’s memory. The park’s reopening and dedication celebrated Stewart’s life while raising awareness of the disease in efforts to help others. The Mather family’s generosity extends beyond this beautiful community tribute. They have also supported cholangiocarcinoma research, helping advance the search for better treatments and, ultimately, a cure. At the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation, we are grateful for families like the Mathers, whose love for someone they have lost inspires meaningful action and brings hope to others facing this disease. Stewart’s legacy lives on in the community he called home, in research that moves us forward, and in every life touched by his story.

On Sunday, October 11, 41 runners as part of Team CCF ran the Chicago Marathon to honor all those affected by cholangiocarcinoma and raise funds for life-saving research. We had runners from Australia and fifteen US states, and there were so many moments of connection and community—and, in the process, raised nearly $210,000! From fun at the tent to incredible finishes, the day was an incredible reminder of what we can accomplish as a team. We especially want to thank: Greg Metzler, a CCA survivor, who was our incredible photographer. Sandra Zussman, a CCA survivor, who provided handmade gifts to others on a cholangiocarcinoma journey. Katie Glenn and Cindy Mrotek, who lead our amazing cheer tent with awesome energy all day! And we want you to join us next year! There is a fundraising minimum of $2,500, and each participant will receive 18 weeks of training, fundraising help and resources, a race day shirt, and an invitation to the team lunch for the runner and a friend. If you're interested in joining the 2027 Chicago Marathon for Team CCF, you can complete this form: forms.gle/4B2PA7NjQta2wpWw6
