President, Climate Forecast Applications Network Professor Emerita Georgia Tech Author of Climate Uncertainty and Risk

My new book Climate Uncertainty and Risk has arrived! Early reviews: “Judith A. Curry leverages her background in climate science, weather forecasting, and devising risk management strategies to present the climate policy debate we have never had. Her balanced, evidence-based, and multifaceted discussion leaves the reader ‘better informed as to the uncertainties and the various values in play’ in designing climate policy.”―Peter Hartley “Judith A. Curry is one of the world’s leading scholars of climate change and a deep thinker about how science copes with uncertainty. In this refreshing and comprehensive book, she shows with meticulous care and great clarity that exaggerated claims about climate change made for political purposes are wide of the mark. Instead, she shows the way to a rational and practical discussion of this polarized topic.”―Matt Ridley “With climate models running too hot by a factor of 2 for 30 years, with everything that used to be called a weather event now a portent of climate change, and with billions being invested against this as opposed to other more pressing world needs, Judith A. Curry provides us with a much-needed and convincing rethink.”―Michael Kelly amazon.com/s?k=judith+curry+…

Here are the 7 key points from my latest article on the climate attribution cabal. Law professors and climate activists enrich themselves on funding from foundations and the litigation industry and in return try to deliver evidence to sue the oil industry. thefirebreak.org/p/the-envir…

In climate science, questioning or critiquing a climate science finding is now treated as personal attacks on the researcher. Why is that?

I read Unelected, highly recommend. While I expected the NGO stuff, new media, data monkery, I did NOT expect a serious treatise on political philosophy/history for the past several centuries. This is the book the moment needs.
📚🚨 The book UNELECTED is finally out - order it today if you haven't! 🇺🇸 There'll be more Democracy Files drops today - but as it happens, today is launch day for my book UNELECTED. It is a coincidence that I stumbled into an archive of these ex-USAID officials less than a week before the book's release. The UNELECTED is about how and why a massive global network of NGOs came to dominate our everyday American policies. And crucially, UNELECTED ends in a whitepill that shows us the way out of this mess. UNELECTED is a joint collaboration between @JoshuaLisec and myself. I started this effort because my own doxxing happened during the Tesla Takedown protests, while I was in the process of being recruited by DOGE. DOGE employees were having their life made miserable, and I had to take my own children and flee out of state. While researching who organized and financed the protests, I noticed all the backers were all about democracy. Democratic resilence, strengthening democracy, protecting democracy. I was like ... "wait, why are democracy groups behind this?" DOGE was cutting silly DEI foreign aid awards, it wasn't overturning any elections. What I came to find was shocking - these silly USAID awards added up to a global regime change machine. "Democracy" has nothing to do with elections. "Democracy," to them, means diffused governance outside of the three branches of our Constitutional Republic via private citizens in the form of NGOs. The network started assembling over a hundred years ago with the founding of Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and has snowballed into a machinery worth trillions of dollars that has sucked taxpayer money, philanthropic money, union dues. That became UNELECTED. You've been reading about the coup the past couple of days. UNELECTED shows how and why the coup came to be. I'm so lucky to have met wonderful people throughout this journey - @petermarocco, "Big Balls" @as400495 , and countless others who sacrificed so much more to right our country. Vote straight Republican on November 3rd, and buy UNELECTED.

My understanding of multidecadal natural internal variability was relatively naive in 2006. Since then I've done substantial research on this. Also the global hurricane data set isn't useful prior to 1980. @RyanWeather 's analysis on this is the best available IMO.

Judith Curry is one of the most important heroes of intellectual integrity of the past 20 years. I began following her when she was celebrated by the mainstream establishment while commenting on technical climate blogs. She was invariably fair minded and balanced in her replies and consideration of evidence. Her own blog, started later, has some of the most thoughtful commentary on the challenges of climate science and climate policy. Her book is the single best overview of the challenges inherent in both.

Researcher @curryja was once a “rock star” in the climate change movement. Then she discovered that some scientists conspire to hide data. “A lot of really ugly things,” she tells me. She reveals the “manufactured consensus” about climate change:

A greener planet due to CO2... "Greening acceleration occurred in 55.15% of the globe (positive trend and positive growth rate trend), while browning acceleration occurred in only 7.28% (negative trend and positive growth rate trend). Combined with meteorological variables, we found that CO2 change dominated the Leaf Area Index (LAI) trend..." sciencedirect.com/science/ar…

Curry’s work has been roundly criticised, not accepted by her peers. I don’t need to. And ‘ad hominem’ does not include stating the truth. Her work is biased, agenda-driven, not good enough and is not convincing.

So tiresome. I have several clients in the energy sector. I provide forecasts of extreme weather events (temperature, hurricanes, convective weather) that are used by utility and energy trading companies. So give it a rest, I am not a lobbyist for fossil fuel companies
Curry herself has acknowledged receiving cash from Fossil Fuel companies. Please do a simple search and disabuse yourself of the idea that she is a scientist with no paid agenda and listen to actual scientists instead. As I say. A shill. To be ignored - and is.

Yesterday I wondered what Naomi Oreskes was up to. Now I know. Reprehensible.
One of America's most hated academics is also one of its most sensational hypocrites. After a career of attacking researchers who worked with industry, Naomi Oreskes created a company to profit from perhaps America's worst industry. My latest: thefirebreak.org/p/naomi-ore…

Excellent comments from Matthew Kahn. Haven't heard anything from Naomi Oreskes in ages. Three cheers for free market thinking
Yikes! While I applaud my @USCDornsife school for welcoming diverse thought, I would like to volunteer to comment on her lecture's core theme. A thread.

Well I love the cartoon. And I applaud @RogerPielkeJr for continuing to fight the good fight. But I am so over this stuff. The climate wars and attacks on scientists that challenge the mainstream narrative continue, but may be muted during the Trump regime (I admit I have lost touch with what is going on in academia, but I suspect things haven't improved). Academia has suffered from the loss of myself, Pielke, others, not to mention the scientists that rejected the academic path or left very early on in their tenure. While I will continue to set the record straight if I am asked (e.g. such as the DOE CWG), I've pretty much removed myself from the public debate on this topic (particularly after shutting down Climate Etc), apart from sporadic tweeting. In the meantime, I am working in the private sector (Climate Forecast Applications Network) which allows me to bypass all the BS of peer reviewed journal publication, government grant applications, and generally playing the game to build academic prestige. Academics waste a colossal amount of time on that stuff. Pielke is bypassing all that with his substack, sustaining his reputation and profile in the public debate. I have taken a different path. I am bypassing all that by doing client-driven research to help companies and governments understand and manage their extreme weather and climate change risks (timescales from days to decades). I have done some path breaking work in this regard, which is to the great benefit of my clients but unknown to the broader academic community. So Michael Mann and the rest of that gang can go suck eggs, their path to irrelevance grows with every passing day. It's sad for academia and the education of the future generation of scientists. But the real action these days is in the private sector (e.g. the AI weather forecast models) and on social media. rogerpielkejr.substack.com/p…
