FC Porto vs Gil Vicente ๐น
Froholdt and Costaโs movement creates a dilemma within Gil Vicente's defensive structure. The failure to resolve it provides Porto with the decisive advantage.

I explain how Real Madrid used a simple method to overwhelm Barcelona's back line: itsjustasport.substack.com/pโฆ
Madrid identified a problem down Barcelonaโs right. Cucurella stays wide, Diomande attacks the half-space, and suddenly Cancelo is defending a 2v1, Cancelo shoddy defender as is.
His job is to delay and buy time for support, but with Yamal not tracking back and Rodri unable to recover quickly, that support never arrives.
Madrid punish it with a fortunate bounce.

How can we ever keep everyone happy?
@DanAbrahams77 recounts a tale from his time at Bournemouth. One player loved the session, the other hated it!
You just can't win them all!
โTheyโre just trying to survive.โ
@DanAbrahams77 joins me to explore how coaching, confidence and pressure shape a football brainโand why wanting to win isnโt enough.

Intelligent Operating System
A club's competitive advantage is not merely the quality of its players, facilities or coaches.
It is the quality of the methodology and system that helps all of them learn together.

Distances when attacking
Itโs been said that the attacking team should make the attacking space as big as possible.
However, a short distance between teammates helps them fool nearby defenders with counter-movements or fakes that create an advantage.

It's Friday and that means I've updated our Who to Follow directory again.
It now includes 76 coaches, educators, organisations and resources from across the game.
Weโre not going to tell you who weโve added.
Youโll have to go and find out.
The reason we built this is simple:
โคท There are good people sharing useful ideas every day, but finding them amongst everything else on social media can be difficult.
So weโre putting them in one place.
Search by name, filter by platform and see who you might be missing.

โYou only hate MLS because youโre a eurosnob.โ
No. I dislike it because itโs fake.
Itโs a product engineered in boardrooms.
Expansion teams, manufactured rivalries, designated players, plastic atmosphere. WWE on grass.
Authenticity isnโt about marketing.
You either have it or you donโt.

After what's been a pretty stressful few weeks, it's time to relax and recharge the batteries for a few days.

Doing the UEFA B Licence? Keep this one page handy.
In the 2025 course guidance, the four tactical themes are attacking combinations in central areas, attacking combinations in wide areas, defending in central areas and defending in wide areas, across 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1 and 3-5-2.
Courses differ between associations, and it doesn't replace your course material. Save it for your next planning night.

If your players arenโt moving off the ball, add this one rule.
They must complete a pass before they can score.
Watch what happens.
Players start finding space, supporting the ball, moving with purpose.
One rule. Completely different session.
