I hope people getting into art direction understand that 80% of your job is making the quickest, ugliest paintovers known to man
You just gotta communicate those ideas to your team!! Today!!! Lord knows you don't have the luxury of being able to paint an Actual Piece of Art
Not quite! This is in Tama, where Whisper of the Heart (ghibli film) was based. Dream location to me!
10 years ago as a 21yo I went to Japan solo and had been a few months in to game dev as a career.
10 years later went back with my husband and best friend. As of July will be celebrating 10 years in game dev. Decade went in a blink of an eye! Beautiful way to end this chapter.
Dream goal for me in video games is to make a game where I can splice together a badass AMV in windows movie maker to my favourite song
I used to make cringe ass sims 2 AMVs to green day and since I'm a creative director already I need new goals

Microsoft says it needs games like Hi-Fi Rush the day after killing its studio.
“We need smaller games that give us prestige and awards,” Matt Booty (head of Xbox Game Studios) told employees in a town hall today.

I think at this point I'm gonna just scrap the stream schedule posts until I can actually stream regularly enough cause I'm so tragically unreliable LOL 😭😭
Had to focus on some irl stuff so no streams this week! Good news is that next week will be back to 3x a week 😊
I had to dig for this but it was this specific picture that started my game career. A commission of all things!
Incredibly important article that I wish I had 5 years earlier. Sometimes I still feel like I'm recovering.
What the game industry must do to prevent occupational burnout

I do agree with the article there is growth and joy to be found in that. Also a new normal. I can't honestly say some of that normal is good, but I put a lot of work in with my mental health to be better than I was.
