BYU is the No. 7 team in the nation and will be playing with the same energy, focus, and motivation as they did against Notre Dame. It will take everything we have to beat a very good football team.
They've got a beast of a QB, a flock of amazing receivers, and a stingy ball hawk defense, and they look like us.
Why? because Kalani is one of us.
BYU is modeled after Utah, and Utah is back to being Utah. Of course, Kalani and BYU have since added to the foundation to fit who he is and what they are, but make no mistake, these are two very similar animals. We have the same exact players on both side of the rosters, they recruit like us, and we recruit like them.
The two men leading this program sat and stood side-by-side for years. One played for Mac and Urban, the other a LaVell disciple who learned to coach under another. They ate, drank, and slept Utah Football. They won and lost together. They are truly two men from the same cloth.
There could be no two more similar programs in the nation, in terms of culture, religion, belief, process, and model. BYU's process is a clone of our process.
It was only a matter of time before these two programs met to determine the championship. After all, the Utah formula that Urban Meyer installed here has won national championships in two conferences. So it works.
No matter what anyone would like to tell you, I've seen enough of these games that if you think you're guaranteed to win or lose, don't.
It doesn't matter the year.
What is guaranteed is that the Holy War is a 50/50 ball, and it's going to be decided when the 4th quarter is done, and not any sooner.

BYU CB Jayven Williams is a fighter.
Even on the receptions that hit on his routes, he was in position.
ASU went at him and he answered the call again and again.
He’s a dog in run support and has a fighter’s mentality.

stated this previously, but I felt the best position group on the field for BYU was the CBs, and it really wasn't close. Both Alexander and Williams did a tremendous job defending ASU's potent WRs. Sure, Fette was flat out bad through most of the game, but still. BYU's corner play was very good. And yes, that PI call on Williams was absurd.
I miss when we completely shut this dude down. Our defense just hasn't looked the same the last two weeks.
