my hot take on AUs is that I like keeping the essence of characters while exploring what they will do in different settings because character personalities are how I fall in love with them in the first place
that being said I also like self indulgent AUs that are OOC dgshs
but I feel like AUs are just for fun... why we gotta gate keep fun
especially if it's doujin
if it's ooc so what, it's fun to see them in what you enjoy
great if it's BEST or GREAT story close to canon but that is a consequence of a creative's skill
