Dilettante, ever curious, a great soundtrack, just another person on a pale blue dot. All thoughts my own and not representative of anything else.

I love Sid Meier but ever there was a game that hasn’t aged well…
Sid Meier's Colonization on the Commodore Amiga is a story of discovery, exploration, and the quest for territorial independence. Play as a colonist, conquistador, and diplomat, facing the challenges and frustrations of building a new, independent nation. Was there ever a game @sid_meier made that wasn't epic? It seemed like everything he touched turned to gold—new world gold!

The older I get, the more I think this was one of the greatest movie experiences of my life. Introduced it to my boy and he thought it was “boring”. 🤦‍♂️
The incredbile flying fight scene from CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON (2000). It was pulled off by using crane rigs that were up to 100ft high.

So sad to hear about David Lynch’s passing. His control over sound and image in his films created worlds you would never see anywhere else. A true unique visionary who loved to show you a glimpse of the dirty dark world underneath the sheen of reality’s false rosy veneer.

Needless to say…. I’m a huge huge fan. Not everyone got it though, my friends have never forgotten or forgiven me for forcing them all to watch Eraserhead in our teens. 😂 Thanks for the unforgettable films and TV, David Lynch! ❤️

Wait… the lead singer of SIX60… is creatively brave? The most blandest, bbq reggaest, boring as fuck, worst festival Kiwi loving bullshit of a band is now creatively brave? Hahahahahahaha!! Yeah nah. stuff.co.nz/culture/36051809…

Has Matt Walsh blown up the Breakers roster by ditching Gillespie for a media stunt pick in Tacko Fall? I know we got injuries but the cohesion has completely collapsed. Hard to watch.

I've no idea how many times that Jules's line delivery has cracked me up over the years but it is a LOT. And of course as drummer for Thorazine Shuffle, I saw him live quite a few times! This is so sad, we've lost a taonga. My heart goes out to his, and the wider @95bFM, whānau.
Really sad to hear this morning that Jules Barnett has passed away. I met him as a vollie at 95bFM and he was a much loved and incredibly talented producer and musician. Had many fun moments recording voiceovers to bFM ads with Jules.

Haven’t done one of these for a while. Had some fun with some of my favourite tunes from the late 90’s/early 2000’s tech house sound. What retired Dj Dads do on rainy Saturdays with the house to themselves… on.soundcloud.com/5hzBnyVpTn…

The reason Act voters feel like "second class citizens" or whatever is because they're put upon losers who will always feel like that. The treaty has nothing to do with it

Alright, time to start packing up and moving across to where the sky is blue. If anyone still sees these things any more and wants to stay in contact, I’m @dalainz.bsky.social. Will start to slowly phase my way out of this dumpster fire. Fuck Elon Musk. 🖕

People wanting to set off fireworks should be made to do a quiz on Guy Fawkes, to prove they know what they’re celebrating…and then be told no anyway. #FuckGuyFawkes

There were some really good takes on the Thom Yorke gig(s) last weekend. Sam Smiths for Stuff and Tom Dillane for the Herald all wrote great reviews, but my favourite is this one. It’s really neat. Speaking as a retired sad-teenager-turned-father. 😁 thespinoff.co.nz/pop-culture…

Watching season 2 of Twin Peaks for the first time is a vibe, man. Ep7 (Lonely Souls) is peak TV. David Lynch firing on all cylinders and delivers a masterclass of perfectly menacing weirdness. But the eps after that as they try to pivot the story are so so so punishingly bad!

Screw it. Let’s do round 2 tonight!! #ThomYorke
