My new goal in life is to be last.
There is surprisingly little competition.
I have been successful several times already.

Do you need an executive coach? "No, I'm fine," you might say. But being "fine" prevents you from reaching your next level of performance.

I'm Japanese.
I started talking to Americans on X about a year ago.
I didn't expect it to change me.
But it did.
I say "no worries" at work now.
I say it to my boss.
I smile at strangers on the train.
Some of them smile back.
It's very confusing.
I ask the convenience store clerk how her day is going.
She always says "Good! Thank you!"
Last week she asked me back.
And when something good happens to a friend,
I don't say "That's nice."
I say "That's awesome!"
And I mean it.
I used to think Japan and America were very far apart.
Now I think we're just a long flight away. 🇯

Quick Marketing Tip
A silly mistake I see clients make all the time:
• They stop doing what works.
So when you get a new client ask them about what they’ve done in the past that worked for them.
You might find all sorts of ideas you can use again.

It took me a year to start posting here.
My hands were shaking when I spoke on my first Space.
I didn’t want to record my first video.
But I did.
Feel the fear and do it anyway.
It’s the only way you’ll grow.

When I first opened brown & browner, I bought large cookies jars with our logo engraved on them, and filled them with espresso brownies and blondies that my wife made, and a note that said "for a free refill schedule a meeting."
I passed out 25, got 14 meetings, and 3 clients.

My clients have flown me around in private jets
And buy me thousand dollar suits so that I can look good as part of their entourage while helping them at an event.
But the reason I attract high paying high-net -worth clients is not due to special connections.

😵💫 So many executive leaders push through the stress, the deadlines, the dysfunction. But what if they just admitted that performing in that kind of environment is not sustainable?

The loser has more in common with the winner than with the person sitting on the sidelines.
The winner and the loser each had the courage to try. Both risked embarrassment. Both were willing to face uncertainty. Both were stubborn enough to continue.
Success is endurance in disguise. It belongs to the person who can absorb the losses without absorbing the identity of "loser." It's the courage to start — and to stick with it — that is the real separator. Results tend to find the person who stays in the game.
The sidelines are safe, but sterile. Nothing grows there.

So, not only did I forget that I live 1.5 hours from the nearest airport when I booked a 6am flight, but also found out on my way to the airport that my flight is delayed. Since the 6am flight is delayed, my connecting flight got bumped and I lost my biz class seat for a middle seat at the back of the plane. Thanks a lot @united . Added to that, buried somewhere in the fare details is the juicy tidbit that I can be bumped from biz class into economy for the same fare price, so no refund. Excellent.

On vacation in Panamá and @united decided not to send my bag along with me, and seems thoroughly unmotivated to try to fix it.
Landed 24 hours ago and just got a message that now it won’t be arriving until tomorrow.
Fuck United Airlines, and avoid if possible. Ridiculous.
