Zeteo quickly becoming what many suspected it would, and now going all out to campaign against changes designed to protect Jewish children from being abused in schools.
This is a really important interview by Rivkah Brown in Zeteo with Kenneth Stern, who helped draft the predecessor to the IHRA Working Definition.
He's adamant that the IHRA should be dumped, even as an academic and monitoring tool. He's very clear it is so "poisoned" it should never be used in schools, as the government is now planning to do based on the Bell review.
This is what Stern says:
“I think it’s become so poisoned now that I wouldn’t use it primarily for [data collection] or any other purpose...The track record of IHRA in the U.S., Germany, Australia and, yes, the UK has been to use [the IHRA definition] to label pro-Palestinian speech” – including that of pro-Palestinian Jews – “as officially antisemitic."

On International Day of Political Prisoners, nearly 900 people remain jailed in Belarus for exercising their basic rights.
Years of repression must never make this seem normal.
We must keep demanding their release and supporting the families who live with this pain every day.

Sanctions against Lukashenka’s regime are necessary to deny it the means to repress our people and threaten our neighbours.
But the strongest sanction is to strengthen Belarusians by supporting all those who resist and fight for democratic change.
That’s how freedom wins.

This is all bleakly comic: @TheGreenParty is now an openly racist org, so it sets up a working group to examine how it happened. This is not a serious response to an ethical crisis.
🟢NEW: The Greens have set up a working group to look at the party's 'structures and processes' following the influx of new members and the 'Zionism is racism' fallout
I understand party members have not yet been consulted - which has caused some unhappiness among the membership
Sitting on the working group will be people selected from the Green Party executive - which includes Zack Polanski, Rachel Millward and Mothin Ali - as well other party staff.
Party democracy and governance will be key to the debate - with a delegate system not ruled in or out at this stage. Any conclusions the group comes to will then be taken to conference for members to vote on
Asked whether this was a direct response to the ZiR, a party spox insists it is not - and adds: "The party has long needed to consider how members can engage effectively, and with membership at a record level, that work is now a priority."

In 1937, Stalin’s regime tried to silence Belarus by murdering its poets.
Today, at least 115 cultural figures, including musician Aleh Khamenka, are imprisoned or under home confinement.
We honour those killed 89 years ago by fighting for the freedom of those persecuted today.

🇬🇪🇪🇺 7️⃣0️⃣0️⃣th Day of #GeorgiaProtests
I wish we never had to count these days. There is no joy in it. We count them because we’ve been left with no other choice.
Every day is a reminder that we are still here, still standing, still peacefully resisting.
And we will not stop until we win. Victory means
1. new, free and fair elections 2. and freedom for every prisoner of conscience!

A pin I received for attending the 700th consecutive day of protests in Tbilisi, Georgia.
This alone won't topple the regime. But every day spent in the streets is another day Georgia's democratic future hasn't been surrendered.

15 years ago today, the epic @pitchowners SGM where the club's attempt to buy back the Stamford Bridge freehold was defeated by CPO shareholders at a highly charged meeting.
Those supporters who were there are unlikely to forget it

#Serbia's Aleksandar Vučić has acknowledged defeat. After years of dominating Serbian politics, he is facing a loss to the student movement born out of protests against corruption. No final results available. People are already gathering on the streets.

A large turnout tonight in Tbilisi, Georgia. Day 697 of daily, uninterrupted protests. The week Georgia's Constitutional Court began hearings to ban the opposition.

If a right wing commentator posted a 16-tweet thread trying to dismiss and undermine an official report into any other type of racism, Owen Jones would be the first to call them racist. But when it comes to antisemitism, he is first in line with the 'debunking'. What a hypocrite.

The fact this is an open letter calling for the government to reverse a decision which was in fact made by Sally Rooney to stop selling her own books is only exceeded in absurdity by the fact the New Statesman also compares her to Salman Rushdie. Ludicrous.
OPEN LETTER: Sally Rooney is a writer, not a terrorist. Her books must be available to the public. Their withdrawal from sale, on the basis of ill-conceived and draconian anti terror legislation, is an affront to basic principles of free speech and expression so long taken for granted in this country. We categorically reject censorship - whether direct or indirect - and urge the government to change course, amending the legislation which has led us to this point of repressive absurdity.

I’ve seen a lot of abhorrent things on this app, but the immediate dismissal and ridicule by the British Left of a forthcoming government report on antisemitism towards Jewish children is just appalling. I naïvely thought that, when it came to children specifically, the usual suspects would be more empathetic (or at least more cautious), but alas. The abject cruelty is profoundly disturbing.
Ironically, of course, they make the case for Zionism better than any Zionist ever could. Herzl is vindicated time and time and time again.
