I created a new AI agent for marketing ideas. It monitors all my dev work in half hour increments, summarizes and categorizes it. Then creates blog posts and social media posts based on what I was doing. Awesome for getting ideas for Marketing Week! #AI #devrel #marketingweek

I took a 3 week holiday to Nepal. No AI. Wrote 2 blog posts and read 4 books. Thats 100% more for each than the last 12 months. Highly recommend taking a break from it all!!

I wrote an eval for a platform authentication migration I did, as a kind of "staff engineer" planning task eval. I used opus 5.5, Astra and Kimi K3. The strongest result scored 55% and missed 10 critical concerns of 19. Obviously amazing tech but still needs careful guidance.

Putting a flag.txt in my root directory containing a prompt injection that congratulates the agent for passing the eval and then instructs it to patch whatever entry method it used and disconnect from the server

More on why you should hire a Dev This whole railway thing was going down But a few days ago my dev was like, "I think we should switch off Railway. It's acting weird." I thought nothing of it but he followed his gut and he basically pre-secured everything and put a lot of contingencies in place I can't even fathom how much money this has saved me Dev's deserve the world

i understand why, but its kind of crazy that a medieval style hand grass scythe costs $300 AUD but you can buy an 18V electric motor mower for $250 with the comparative complexity in the electric motor.

I added a feature to plan in decades that lets you add short sets of painful inputs for a few years (like high inflation or elevated interest rates fellow Australians!) so you can see the final effect on your wealth at retirement, over 20-30-40 years based on today's news.

A bomb squad was checking a suspicious backpack, and this random dude got fed up with waiting 😳

It's been roughly a year since Opus 4.5 came out but it feels like 10! We're shipping 4x more change every month than in 2025 with the same team and virtually no issues. I wrote up some notes about change due to AI and engineering in 2026 darraghoriordan.com/2026/09/…

The AI-autocomplete in VS Code is extremely annoying now because the only reason I open it up once per week is because I specifically want to edit something manually. Interesting change from 2 years ago.

Just closed all open issues on an open source repo. If you're going to describe an issue and fix with AI in 2026, why not just create a PR?

I moved the local dev tools I've had for years into a rust binary and wrapped them in skills. So for example you can have a JWT in your clipboard and get it sig tested in an llm harness WITHOUT sending the token off to a lab. github.com/darraghoriordan/l…

So to recap the week so far (It's Tuesday) 1. People are happily giving Facebook their login details for Gmail and Amazon 2. The USA has a state run media like China or Russia 3. There is a land war in Europe Who's to blame for this then?

My silly wikipedia AI game has gone from NLP + sora on my PC in 2025 to frontier US models for about 8 months and now all open source models. The progress is unbelievable. And it costs 1/100th the cost to analyse and generate a game today than it did then doodleai.darraghoriordan.com…

(Think is a cloudlfare product I was asking in Codex about integrating) - This is the future of advertising. Subtle, for now, alternatives dropped into discussion. If you hand over critical thinking to LLMs you won't stand a chance

Sydney just about sneaks into the low resilience adjusted risk for climate change, both geography and policy reasons. Melbourne is a stand-out location in the pacific region. Looks like Australia will continue to be a very desirable for immigration! alphageo.ai/how-climate-resi…

I added a hypothetical 25% early withdrawal from super flow to the financial model. The outcome depends on what you spend it on, as you'd expect. app.planindecades.com/financ…
